Birth defects

So with my first pregnancy i took good care of the baby and me. There wasnt a day i didnt took my prenatal vitamins (Folic acid & vitamin). I also ate healthy and did everything i could so my baby could be born strong and healthy. On all the appointments i had Dr said everything looked great and the baby was fine. By the time my daughter was born the nurses told me she was born with a cleft palate(birth defect) i had a rough time feeding her she would take a whole hour just to drink 2 ounces of formula or breast milk. Her cleft palate is gone thanks to a surgery she had. Her surgerian told me whenever i was to get pregnant again i had to drink a higher dosis of folic acid to prevent birth defects, my ob prescribed me folic acid in pills which i have to take 4 of them every day im not taking no vitamins since he didnt prescribed none to me. I have to say im really concern about this pregnancy im so worried. Idk if any of you ladies had gone through something similar to this.

My daughter was born with no issues, 3 years ago. This time around I was told that in the ultrasound my baby could potentially have a cleft lip, but we haven't been told whether yes or no. My obgyn is making an appointment for me to go and see a maternal and fetal specialist for them to do tests to see for sure.

My first baby was born with a cleft palate too and now I'm almost 35 weeks with my second. I do get worried that my second baby will have it but I try not to stress over it.
