Everything will come naturally to you. No matter how many books you read or classes you take, you will never be prepared for a baby since baby's are so different. I was taking some classes for free at the hospital I'm going to deliver at, and yes some of the information is useful, but it's going to take a lot more than classes and books to prepare for to take care of another life. Good luck though hun :)

Whew, you were lucky.  5 minutes is a blessing!  LOL  I was a solid two hours of pushing with hours of labor before that.  What a work out!!

I think if you don't choose to go to a class, you'll also be fine.  Truth is, labor and delivery nurses are fantastic and our bodies are built to have babies---  the body alone will naturally do its work and with the nurses guiding things (and the doctor)---  things happen.  Whether prepared for it officially through a class or not.
I did use the breathing techniques and some  of the relaxing techniques.  They taught us how to make a lavender relaxing thing with a sock and it was really nice when first in labor.

The classes aren't totally essential but just a nice extra. But very true that you don't need them to give birth.  Between your own body, instincts and those wonderful labor and delivery nurses---  you'll be fine.  good luck

I honestly don't see no reason to take one because when your in labor everything they told you will go out the window. You won't even think about it. I didn't take a class an it only took me five mins to push my baby out

My husband took a one day class on a Saturday offered at the hospital we delivered at.  I think it was free.  I wouldn't say my delivery was exactly like that but a good reference.  They teach you how to breath through the contractions and things like that.  So, I do think it is beneficial.  good luck

I agree that there are a lot of free or really cheap childbirth classes if you look around.

If it's a good class, you'll come away feeling like you know what to expect and you'll have a chance to meet other moms and discuss your pregnancies - which is always great.

I went to free classes provided by my hospital. I really did learn a lot. Check at your health dept, mine provided free breastfeeding classes and also classes for birthing and taking care of newborns

Birthing classes are actually kind of pricey, I had a friend who bought birth class and she let me borrow and said the we're really helpful...maybe you could find a few YouTube videos to watch just to help with breathing techniques

I took so many classes and read so many books haha. But they were all free, because my husband is military and I got them on base. They were seriously so helpful, especially if it's your first. I knew exactly what was going on my entire pregnancy from the knowledge I learned in classes and books. I probably won't take them again, but I'm so glad I took them with my first. But, I also know they are expensive! There are alot of things now on the Internet and youtube you can see for free lol
