Black mold

Hey everyone. This isn't really a question. Just something I need to get off my chest. The weather's starting to get nicer so we started openingbthe windows in our new apartment. Well trying anyways. There is only one window that would actually open. It's an old building so I thought it was just painted shut and asked my dad if he'd try and open it when they came to visit. He did. And couldn't get it open either. But he did see black mold grown all around the window in our bedroom (where my 3m old also sleeps) it's also on the rest of the windows. I called our landlord right away and she's having an inspector come out tomorrow. But I'm still worried and I feel horrible for exposing my son to it and not seeing it BEFORE we moved in a month ago. I thought it was paint chipping and didn't look too closely. I wish I had. I just can't get over feeling awful about not protecting my son better :/

We, as parents, are not perfect.  We make mistakes and it's absolutely impossible to cover EVERY SINGLE potential danger to protect our children.  I understand how you feel, but I think you are beating yourself up over nothing.  Move him out of the room for the time being, see what the inspector says.  If he hasn't experienced any symptoms by now then I don't think it's gonna cause him any problems.  As Mamaof4410 said, take him for a check up to help ease your mind.

Mold can be dangerous. We had a leak in our old home and it was in the bathroom. Well the bathroom wall was also part of the wall in my sons room. By the time I actually noticed it the back of his dresser was rotted from the water and so was the floor. but there was mold. He never got sick or anything.Since your baby is so little you can take him for a checkup just to be safe.
