Bleeding like never before! :-(

I have been trying to become pregnant with my partner for the last few months. I came off Depo after two shots earlier this year. It was due again in early October 2008. I had a period soon after, and my last period was on 26th Nov 2008. Effectively I was expecting my period to be late Dec. Ok, so, most of November involved a series of 'signs' that were leading me to believe I was in the early stages of a pregnancy - my breasts were heavy and fuller, they were getting bigger, also I kept needing to wee regularly, and I was emotional a lot. I wasn't telling myself I was pregnant as such but waiting to see if I'd have a period. Then just before Christmas, I was sick at night, and my body was tender the next day - I don't know if I was temporarily ill or what. Anyway, a day later I started to have a period - although it wasn't a typical period I'm used to - I bled continuously and heavily for 3 days (my periods are usually 5 days) then suddenly the bleeding stopped - it was the heaviest period I'd ever had. I felt faint regularly too. Then when it stopped I had gone from heavy bleeding to nothing all at once. At the same time my breasts had stopped feeling heavy and they were noticably smaller a day or two after. I stopped having the urge to wee regularly too.

My partner and I am understandably a little worried about what happend to me. Did I have a miscarriage? Even at 3-4 weeks? What does it sound like has happened?
Some advice would be appreciated. Thanks

To be honest, even though your other periods were normal, your body is still adjusting to getting off the depo so it could have been another period.  But, it could have also been a m/c but like I said before the only way to tell would be to take a test.  If it is positive then it most likely was a m/c.  If it is negative and you are still concerned, you should call your doctor and have them do an HCG blood test to check your pregnancy horomone levels.  There is no other way of telling whether you had a m/c.  Now even though you had a m/c, doesn't mean that your chances of conceiving are lower.  An average 20-25% of women have a m/c.  Also, if you have or are going to have a m/c you can't prevent it.  I, and many other women on here, have had m/c's and gone on to have healthy pregnancies.  Some women do have 2 or 3 m/c's and there is no explanation why - and they go on to have a healthy pregnancy.  I would call your doctor about your concerns because he will be the only one to help you.  I hope it was just your period, but if not the ladies on here are really helpful with any information you need.

I made a mistake in my post - the month I described as having those pregnancy 'signs' was throughout December NOT Novemeber. Sorry for adding confusion..
And my 2 periods in Oct and November before those signs were completely normal. Then Dec, the signs, and late Dec the bleeding.
Do you think they were pregnancy signs?
I never have swollen and tender breast when I have a period for whatever reason, I don't. Everything just seemed to point to pregnancy.
I feel concerned about my whole system and chances of concieving if it was a miscarriage... I don't want that happening a second time.

sounds like alot of side effects coming off depo. ppl usually take a yr or so to concieve off of depo. your body use to having all those hormones, so when you stopped your body prob just went crazy ya know?

You might be able to tell my taking an HPT.  If you are/were pregnant it would most likely show a positive sign still.  My m/c was like an extremely heavy, very painful period.  But my cycles were all screwed up so my m/c didn't happen at the same time like yours.  It is possible that your period can be heavier than normal since you aren't on the depo anymore.  My periods were definitly heavier and more painful (PMS symptoms wise) after I went off the pill - because the pill regulates periods.  So it is possible for it to just be a period.  Your doctor can also do an blood test to check your hcg levels and that will show whether or not you are/were pregnant - then if it is positive he can check it again a few days later which will show if it was a m/c (it will rise if its a viable pregnancy and it will decline if not).  Best of luck to you.
