Yes I got mine highlighted everything was fine. Only thing that bothered me was the smell but you can ask for a mask if it starts to bug you.

It will dry your hair out if they leave it on too long, if they put you under the dryer for too long, if they use a very high developer or if you have previous color on your hair.. But Just find a good hair dresser that knows what she or he is doing and you'll be fine! Use a deep conditioner after too.. I love morrocanoil! ♡

I'm 12 weeks and also a hair stylist and I'm getting my hair highlighted tomorrow. . It's so grown out.  Haven't Had it done since dec and its driving me nuts.  I'm just gonna wear one of those masks so I can't smell the fumes. :)

If I had the money I would get my hair fixed. I hate the black in it. Ugh some stylist just love to argue. Hoping I get a good stylist when I get my hair fixed

Any chemical process will damage your hair. But using a hairdryer or straighteners also causes damage. So does Sun and the wind.
It will not cause a problem with breastfeeding. The chemicals do not enter your blood stream I promise. I am a trained stylist and have worked on many pregnant clients. I color my own hair.

It is completely fine to have your hair highlighted. If you are concerned about the smell (which is actually from the peroxide and not the lightening powder) then ask your stylist for a mask or to be positioned near an open window. Yes highlighting will dry out your hair, but as long as you use conditioning treatments you will be fine. As for the upkeep, with highlights you will only be getting the root colored at each visit, so a good stylist will never ever apply bleach onto already lightened hair. They will very carefully and precisely only lighten your roots, so it will not damage your hair more overtime. If you want highlights then get it down. :)

Yes ive done all kinds of stuff to my hair,  if you go get it done professionally its not as bad but they actually mix it to certain strengths, yes lightening your hair in anyway involves bleach and you wont notice an immediate big difference over time it will be more apparent.  Eventually if you do it and like it it requires up keep, so after a couple times your hair will feel more like horse hair ( not as soft ) and mine gets brittle and breaks easily. Just at least make sure you would purchase the shampoos and conditioners made for color treated hair, and maybe a product or two that helps treat your hair to help stay strong and soft. My favorite is redkins hair lotion its frickn amazing, aussies 3 minute miracle treatment once a week works really good too
