Breast Feeding :S

How long should you breast feed for?! like what is the most effective time span for breast feeding.. I don't really fancy being a mum who breast feeds their baby until they are like 3 .. not that there is anything wrong with this!!.. I just don't want to lol.. but how long should you do it for?

I wasn't able to breast feed past six weeks with my son, my first baby. The second, my daughter I'm still breast feeding at 13 months, she eats food of course, I breast feed her mostly when she's tired and ready for a nap/night time. I still wake up with her a couple times a night too. They recommend a year, and some people even say two. I'm not sure when I'll stop with my daughter yet.

i pumped and BF till 5.5 months where she weened herself... slowly took less from me and more from the bottle(started using formula obviously)... at the end i was down to BFing once a day... to me it worked well as i never had issues with my milk drying up as i wasnt feeding much at the end anyway... i still went through that guilt of being done but i did get over it lol and this round i am gonna try to nurse more but we will see... the main part is that the baby gets the colostrum as its packed full of goodness.... i am pro BFing but i wouldnt ever tell someone how long they have to nurse as formula these days has improved so much that baby is still gonna grow big and strong! but cost wise formula is expensive so you really have to budget this in... so the longer you can nurse the more money you really do save... its crazy how fast it adds up!

From what I have read 6 months is awesome but if I can go to a year its even better.  I bf my first for 10 1/2 months, mt second for 14 months, and so far im at 10 1/2 months with my third.  I also understand about not wanting one hanging on till 3! Lol  my pedi also recommends weaning by 1 year.  Nest of luck to u.

It depends on what you and your baby feel is right. My mom breast fed me til I was 14 months then she had to ween me because it was causing issues with her pregnancy with my brother and she nursed him til he weened himself at 12 months. I was only able to breastfeed my son for a couple of months. I was having to supplement the whole time and my milk supply never became what he needed to be full. It was a hard decision for me to stop, I wanted to do it til he was at least 18 months but even for the short period of time I was able to give him something I know it helped. He is hardly ever sick. So for me even for the couple of months I did it, it was totally worth it. Every little bit helps :)

I only breast feed my son for a month where all he got was breast milk. They thought he had acid reflux turns out he was lactose intolerant. I then switched him to formula and let him feed once every day for mommy baby time in the bath. He held it down alright because it was a lot but still he got the good stuff. We finished that at about 4 1/2 months because I was ready to take medication for being so anxious because my husban had passed when my son was 3 days old
