Breast feeding

So my little one is 1 week and 4 days old. Currently  during  the day she wants to eat every hour. Anyone else have this? During the night it's better but this hour thing gets exhausting.  I also want to pump for when I go back to work, how often should I pump? How much should I have for a 24 hr period?

When baby is feeding off one side because of your let down your other side is most likely leaking. Pump that side while baby eats from the other.

I don't pump every hour I was told it could cause over production. But every woman is different. I pump like once or twice a day

If you're feeding every hour how will you pump every hour?

First congratulations on baby and on breastfeeding. You want to pump how ever many times you feed her. If she eats every 1-2 hrs that's how often you pump to keep milk production up. Every women is different so volume will vary. Make sure to keep hydrated and eating healthy.

OK. I don't know everything about bf as I've been doing it for only 5 weeks. Yes it is completely normal for her to feed so often. She's a newborn and they cluster feed a lot which helps your milk production. It is frustrating trust me. Your milk isn't usually fully established until around 6 weeks so pumping will just depend on you. Feed on demand helps milk :) drink a ton of water too!
