Breast feeding :(

I'm afraid caring about the bond between my fiance and his son has effected the bond between me and my son :(.

my son was latching fine but he's only three days old and i am sure he was getting colostrum due to a dirty diaper and i would see the little crumbs around his mouth but my milk supply has not come in. and i was worried about him not eating enough so i wanted to supplement with the assist from his father since i give Boob, dad will give bottle. but he easily began preferring the bottle. even fussed for his dad because i wouldn't give him the bottle and wanted him to latch.

dad doesn't mind of course plus with him being on mostly Boob he lost 6 ounces in the hospital. so dad really wants to give him bottle. but i don't.

is there any way to turn this around? please help.

my supply came in since this post and i have been extremely happy since. i still do both formula overnight and breast when convenient. the ameda breast pump is what brought in my supply. i pumped for 45 mins and maybe only 7 ml came out lol but then the next day my boobs were leaking. i pumped 2 ounces which is what baby eats and on a good day i could pump 4 ounces yet it is pumping both breast and mixing them together. but my son has seemed fine :) i should pump more often but im lazy :p.. i will work on that.

Am breastfeeding my 3months old exclusively. I pump when am away. I use the avent bottle which has the form of boobs. Generally a newborn drinks very less about 1 oz every 2hours. Be patient and everything will be ok. To increase your supply drink a lot of water. Oat and lentils works for me.

yes same here w. the pacifier. my fiance thought it would make him better he gave him his pacifier the 2nd day and i told him he didnt need it. but yes he loves his binkie and a bottle now. today still at the hospital he's wipping our butts. eating (bottle) every two hours not taking the breast like he did the first two days. everytime the pacifier slips he wines. i don't have any problems latching or with the feeling i love it. it's just the babies instinct to get what's easy has come into play.

thank you ladies who still give me hope.

Omg yes, when my son was born he latched instantly, then the hospital gave him a pacifier without my consent ... Then the latching problems began ... So i started pumping and at around a week old had to bottle feed because he was having a hard time latching and was so hungry ... Now hes 6 weeks old and is slowly but surely getting back on my breasts and latching. Give it time, be patient, frustration will only make breastfeesing unpleasant for both of you. Have you tried using a nipple shield? They are a pain in the behind but your baby should be able to latch onto it. Also, supply and demand pump everytime you bottle feed him so you can keep producing! Best of luck

I breastfed my first for about 5 months untill my supply started deminishing. I would just say keep trying!! I would say even maybe trying to not introduce a bottle quite yet, so that he could get used to your breast completly first, since he is still a fresh newborn. But dont stop! Even when he fusses keep trying your breast, especially when he is at his most hungry.

I'm not breastfeeding I chose with my first baby and this one to just use bottles and formula. SO i do not know about being able to change anything or fix it, but i do know that some babies as well as moms do great breastfeeding and others just dont. FOr example my sister in law breastfeeds, her son prefers boob over bottle and always wants to eat. She pumps and her hubby feeds him when he can or when she leaves baby with him to run errands or go to work but if she tries to feed him a bottle he wont take it becasue he knows shes the one with the boobs. SHe produces alot of milk which is great for them because she makes enough to pump and for baby to get directly from her. My other sister in law tried breastfeeding and did it for about 3 or 4 weeks but it hurt her really bad and she didnt produce enough milk so she had to switch to formula. A friend of mine breastfed for couple weeks but her baby was hurting her and drawing blood. He ate more then what she was able to produce for him so she also switched to formula. Both babies that got put to bottles and formula are eating better and have become more happier babies since. If i were you, i wouldnt worry about the bonding, you csn feed baby bottles also and he will still bond with u the same, but his dad being able to feed him as well will make a great bonding experience for both of you. I know it ***** when you plan to do things a certain way and it doesnt work out but as long as baby is happy and healthy its best to do what works for him. WHich in your case sounds like bottles. You can always pump as much as ur able to and freeze it and do both formula and breast milk but ultimately if you dont produce enough to feed him then formula will be best so that you know hes eating enough
