so i had my son by c-section. i plan on having another child.
but i had alot of issues with my 1st pregnancy...i had pre-eclampsia [high blood pressure] all of that stuff.
i was wondering since i had those issues...would they do another c-section?
i wouldnt mind if they did. i would actually prefer it.

My first was an emergency section - with my second I wanted to do VBAC - but he would not budge.so I had a scheduled section.. so now I am on my third and I have no choice - I have to do a section because of my hosptial and dr will not permit a VBAC after 2 sections..... I wish I did not rush to the 2nd section and tried to labor first because I will never know what it is like to give birth vaginally.. which for me was important.  But it is really your decision and your dr wil advise you...

I can completely understand, but just becuase your first was rough doens't necessarily mean your second won't be.  The risk of uterine rupture during vbac is very minimal.  Vaginal delivery is more natural, it greatly reduces the newborns risk of problems such as respiratory distress, the recovery on your body is much faster, you are able to bond with your baby immediately so long as there are no complications.  You could still receive an epidural for pain management, they just wno't give you the full dose, they scale it back a bit so you can feel some discomfort, that way if something goes wrong you can tell them.

It's completely up to you and your doc but I would like to suggest that you research the statistics abotu repeate c-sections and VBAC's before making a final decision.  A good place to start is the international cesarean awareness network.  If you just type that into your search bar it will bring up their website.  You can also check on the ACOG (american college of obestrics and gynecology) website for more information as well.  Good luck and hopefully everything will go smooth this time around for you!

The reason why I'm all for a c-section again is that im scared to death of vbac.
i dont want to tear or anything. i know theres a good chance i wont ive been told alot but its still scary.
i didnt mind the c-section.
but even when i had my c-section i had complications and they ended up knocking me out with local anesthetic. the father couldnt even be in the room.
i guess i just had a really rough pregnancy

my boys were 16 months apart and I had a repeat Csection because my OBGYN doesn't suggest VBAC less than 18 months apart. I considered it but didn't want the risk so I'm a csection mamma for life

I agree it depends on your DR. I had my first via c-section because I was 41 weeks, my blood pressure went high, was on pitocin for 10 hrs, and didn't dialate past 3 cm. For my second I was giving the option to try for a VBAC but my DR said the chances of it being successful were slim to none because of what happened the last time. So I chose to have a repeat c-section.

The decision to have a repeat c-section is really between you and your DR only. Just because you choose not to try for a VBAC doesn't make you any less of a woman. There are a TON of women on here who are pro natural childbirth and anti c-section. Which is awesome and more power to them. I know that's something I could never do. Quite frankly pushing a baby through my hoo ha scares the crap out of me and I'm glad I'll never have to do that. VBAC's aren't for everyone. Make the decision that you feel is best for you.

I'm not against VBACs. If you can do it and want to do it by all means do it.

With my 1st child I also had pre eclampsia and toxemia where it also led to an emergency c-section. My new Dr does not do Vbac's so with my second son I had a repeat cesarean. If I change Dr.'s I do not want to try a vbac for future pregnancy's. I also was not able to dialate pass 3 centimeters with first son, my sis, and my mom where all the same, but they say it is not hereditary!!!! Go figure! I would ask your Dr. Also since you have had pre eclampsia previously they will monitor that closely!!!

It really depends on the doctor.  Some doctors prefer to do repeate c-sections rather than VBACS, while others don't like to perform them unless its medically necessary.  You would really need to talk to your doctor and see.

Would you mind my asking why you would rather have another c-section?  I had a c-section with my first and have had 4 vbacs so far.  I plan on doing another one with this baby God willing that all goes ok.
