Can implantation bleeding happen on & off over several days?

Here is the rundown: I'm 26 and my husband is 30. We have been TTC baby #1 for 12 months with no luck. This month I had some unusual bleeding and I'm wondering if it could mean I'm pregnant. I have regular 30 day cycles (14 day luteal phase). I used an OPK which was positive on the 13th and 14th of this month (right on time!). We had sex everyday(sometimes multiple times a day) for the entire week leading up to my OPK++, on my ovulation days and two days after. At 9 dpo I had some pink/red discharge only once when I wiped. Then on 11 & 12 dpo I had brown and watery red discharge only when I wiped, but never on my panties. Then yesterday (13 dpo) I got some red blood and thought AF was a day early so I put a tampon in. When I took it out (approx 4 hours later) there was barely anything on it, just a red tip and a few brown streaks. I took a HPT at 6pm (13dpo) and it was neg. Assuming AF was on her way I put in another tampon and went to bed. This morning the tampon was full (but no spill over into panties which is odd on my first night of AF) and the tampon blood was brown with only a few spots of watery red. So to summarize... sex on fertile days, spotting at 9dpo, nothing on 10dpo, 11-12dpo spotting again, then 13 dpo was my only day I had any "flow" and it was light to medium in volume and more brown than red. Now I'm at 14dpo (should be AF's first day) with no flow and brown spotting again. I've heard/read that implantation bleeding can not be red in color but my normal AF has a medium to heavy flow that lasts 4-6 days which this definitely was NOT. Could this be implantation bleeding?

Thanks for your response. I'm going a lil crazy with it starting and stopping constantly. I would actually prefer a full blown AF visit! At least that way I wouldn't be questioning if I am or not and getting my hopes up. I'm definitely going to take another test tonight and see what it says. I just hate the waiting game!!! Thanks again!

It's possible it might have been. You should be able to test now with accurate results. If it's negative, wait a few more days and retest with first morning urine. You could also see a doctor for a beta blood test if you'd prefer.
