Can anyone offer help on this? My wife and I are expecting our second child on June 12. At a recient ultra sound the Doctor found a calcium deposit on the baby's heart and reccomended us for a level 2 ultra sound. I did a little reaserch and It sounded that this was no big deal. At the level 2 ultra sound it was discovered that there is also a small amount of fluid on the baby's kidneys. Both are apparently weak indicators of downs. My wife asked and his cranium and heart are developing normally. The doctor assured us that given our ages, 32 and 31, and no family history of retardation the odds of downs are very weak, 1 in 300. The thing that concerns me is that a follow up was scheduled in 2 weeks to, "check on things". If the indicators are so weak and this is so mild why is this being handled like this ? Why not, when the calcium was discovered was not a level 2 not scheduled for say week 33 so then they can be prepaired at delivery if there are extenuating circumstances? I don't understand what can be done in utero? Has anyone had simular expieriences? Should we be worried?
