Cot OR Moses basket??

I have bought a cot and a moses basket. I was going to use the moses basket down stairs during the day but i am not sure if i am going to start using the cot straight away. I dont know if it is safe or not to use the cot with newborn babies,i know alot of people do put the baby in the cot at a very early age, but i have heard that it is safer to use a moses basket for the first couple of months. Any comments would be appreciated thanks. When i had my son ,he was in a moses basket for the first 3 months.

Nope, never got the marinara sauce.  The waitress even went and asked someone what we were talking about, so she says, but they didn't know what we were talking about either.  Yes, gotta love our conversations..haha

Lol, that is funny. Did you ever get the marinara sauce at all? If so what did they call it?

Its funny how we can all start talking about one thing and end up on tangents about all sorts of things, huh? I love that about us and our species.

Since I moved here to England I have found that alot of different things are called different things.  When we first moved here we went to a Pizza hut because it was a familar place.  We ordered a large pep pizza with some bread sticks.  I ask the waitress for some marinara sauce and she had no clue what I was talking about.  I tired to explain that it was basically pizza sauce and she still seemed clueless.  She ended up bringing me Katchup and my husband almost fell out of his chair laughing.  I was like, "This is gonna be a long 4 years."...lol

Ive just bought a gliding crib - didnt want a moses basket as they seem to last just a matter of weeks if you have a large baby.

In Scotland we call Popsicles Ice Lollies - Ive never heard of Ice Block lol

lol..yes, a cot is a crib.  My husband is in the airforce and we are stationed in England and we have had the hardest time finding a crib for our lil girl.  The cribs (cots) are not like back home (the states) that's for sure.  They aren't as nice as the ones you can buy in the states.  We finally found out we could order one through the furniture store on the base but the only bad thing is, it takes 4-8 to get shipped here.  I only have 2 months left.  She will sleep in our room for the first few months so hopefully the crib will get here  in 4 months.

No, not confusing! Sounds just like a crib! So your cots are like our cribs.

In America we have bassinets which are similar to Moses baskets except they're settled onto a little stand that sometimes rocks back and forth with lights and music. We use bassinets/Moses baskets for the first three months in our rooms while baby is still too little to fall out. Moses baskets are so cute.

And then you move baby into the cot/crib around 3-4 months unless you co-sleep!

it might be a crib. in australia we say cot an example that may help is in a magazine i saw pictures of jenifer lopezs nursery and her bubs had cots. its a small bed, four sides of bars and one side drops down and up for bub to get put in. did i help? or did i confuse you more? lol.

I was wondering the same thing. The only cot I have ever heard of is the fold out kind that people use in hotels and stuff when they need and extra bed. Or like what they use as portable beds in the army or for camping or hunting.
