Could my son's "baby acne" be caused by my skin lotion?

I have a question. I have a rare skin disorder where I have to use vaseline and other products like it to hold in the moisture, and I have also been attempting to breast feed my son.

I notice that when I feed him, a few hrs later he's COVERED in what appears to be "baby acne" it's little whiteheads all over his body (I tend to have him only in a diaper when I bf and hold him "football" hold since it's easiest).

Could the lotion I use be causing pimple's or something like it on him?   I gave him a bath and by tonight (they were there in the A.M.) they were mostly gone.

maybe just put something besides the vaseline on your chest...he could just have daddies skin...if it breaks out DH then Mason could have inheireted that from his dad instead of your skin condition...makes sense. try a different lotion and see what happens.

Zoë had awful baby acne/newborn rash. It goes away by week 8 usually. You can clothe baby when you nurse him to see if that helps prevent him from breaking out.

thanks ladies (I just now got to checking this thread lol)

Tiredbuthappy~ I don't use any lotions with scents or anything on my chest or torso area, actually it's just my hands and feet and face where the scented stuff goes.

I just know that vaseline causes DH to break out horribly on his face (if I wear even the smallest amt on my face and he kisses me) which is why I had to stop using it on my face and had to switch to a lighter none oil based lotion.

i agree it's probably just normal acne. Vaseline is completely safe for baby's skin. However, you may want to look at the other products you use for fragrances and such.

Its possible he may have really sensitive skin for sure!! He is a baby and most of "our " products arent sensitive enough for there skin! lol. Although my baby had baby acne and i never wore creams and stuff around my breast..some babys just get it i think due to our hormones! I dunno...maby try wrapping him or something it might help!! Good luck
