Too much of a good thing? Eating fortified foods etc.

I know certain vitamins like A are not good for baby...but what about other stuff?  Sometimes I'll eat two oranges a day...today, I am on my second bananna (not in one sitting) and I had a cup of Total cereal which says it has 100% of daily intake for calcium and vitamin D...and I had it with milk...and I had a glass of milk this a.m.

I am taking a prenatal...is it possible to get too much of a good thing?

Thanks!

Too bad we can't pee out the fat and build up stores of vitamins and minerals lol

You do pee it out, you basically take pre-natlas in case you don't eat enough nutrients throughout the day, if you do, then you pee out the extra.
Unfortunately, vitamins are not like fat, it doesn't accumulate in your body like fat does....

I was under the impression that you peed the extra out...and I knew that I needed the extra calcium...that's why I thought I'd have some cereal because I have a hard time getting my dairy servings in during the day (I HATE milk...not a fan of yogurt...) I do try to have a glass of milk with my prenatal and I eat light string cheese for a snack during the day.

I think you pee out what you don't need.  You do need the extra calcium because for some reason pregnancy sort of depletes your bones of calcium.  You do need vitamin C because it helps get rid of oxidants in your cells and body.  Vitamin A is ok if it comes from a natural source like betacarotene found in carrots.
Don't worry about the supplements worry about the artificial stuff like artificial sweetners, artificial food colorings, over processed foods (things that come in boxes), undercooked meats etc.

I hate to call my doctor...I usually don't eat total but yesterday I only  ate breakfast and lunch and I wasn't hungry for dinner but I figured  I should try to eat something small...so I had a cup of cereal and the banana.

I have an appointment a week from today...I'll ask then...

BUT if anyone else comes across this post...they can feel free to comment!

It is possible to have to much of something. The body is suppose to rid extra stuff threw kidneys/urine.  Right now im takin a flintstone vitamin, and a folic acid pill bcuz i do consider myself to be eating the right amounts of foods needed for a pregnancy. The prescribed prenatal pill i have, it has the highest of all highs of the vitamins and i dont want to over do it, just in case my body dont rid the extra stuff.

You can talk it over with your doctor and see what the odds is of retaining all that extra stuff.

My inexperienced opinion says no.  I always thought your body expelled the vitamins it did not need through urine.  Maybe it's different when you're pregnant...but I would guess you are OK!
