Charley horse

I read on here yesterday about charley horses, but didn't pay much attention since I hadn't had any. I just woke up with one. Ugh. So is this sound weird coincidence or does it have anything to do with pregnancy? I rarely ever have one, so this was a complete surprise. Any suggestions on what worked for you to help decrease the frequency would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Ugh! Awful feeling, hey? I posted yesterday about waking up to one. My first one ever & it hurt like heck!
Normal during pregnancy. Mine occurred when i stretched/flexed my legs and feet out while switching positions at night- you have to be careful doing that! But yes, also lots of water and bananas! My leg was still a little sore when i woke up- just tight feeling.
Anyways, saw your post & had to comment! Lets hope these arent a daily thing for us! :)

No problem and stretching will help when you get them also massage is your best friend :) I haven't gotten them since I got in my 3rd trimester, hopefully yours will stop soon.

Thanks ladies! I've been trying to drink plenty, but I haven't been stretching at all. I know I should and maybe this is my body telling me to. I've heard potassium helps, but I've not heard of calcium helping. I always have tums, so that is great to know. My sister used to get charley horses during basketball when she was younger and eating pickles always helped her. I didn't want to go that route though. Not that big if a pickle fan. Thanks again!

I just talked to my dr because I get them so bad and he said eat tums before bed or whenever they most occur or just get a lot of calcium

It's common in pregnancy, drink plenty of water, stretch before bed, also potassium is supposed to help.
