By the way, it is bothersome when the patient or family members ask if things are normal or abnormal when they know we are not supposed to say anything. I understand their concern but they keep pushing for answers.
First of all, we have many bad days because of the amount of abnormalities we see. Cysts in the abdominal cavity are difficult to diagnose in utero. It is important to know from which organ the cyst or cysts arise. If the cyst is bowel in origin it may be a mesenteric cyst. If the cyst is in the pelvic cavity and the baby is female it may be ovarian cyst. Could be kidney or liver cysts. Anytime an abnormality is found, referral to a specialist should be made to find out if there are any other abnormalities. If multiple abnormalities are seen it is possible to have a chromosomal problem. If the cysts are isolated and no other abnormalities are found then the baby should be monitored probably on a monthly basis to check the cysts to see if they progress in size or remain stable. It is easier to evaluate the cysts after birth. At that time the origin of the cyst iis easier to find.
Oh wow what an ***. Im sure it'll all be ok
Good. I guess the ultrasound tech was having a bad day. When my bf ask if it was common he snapped at him saying no that's why she is going to a specialist
They say its pretty common and that most of the time they go away before baby is born
