Delivery

Has anyone received nitrous (laughing gas) during labor, how did you like it? I'm wanting to do that instead of an epidural.

I didn't have it with my labor but I've had it with other procedures/surgeries and it just makes you loopy and not focused on what's going on... But then again, labor is very painful and besides completely numbing your lower half, I'm not sure if anything can take your mind off of the pain!!

I didn't have it during labour but I did when I got my wisdom teeth out.  You still feel pain but it's dulled and you don't care so much about it. But it also makes your limbs feel really heavy after a while. Not sure I would want it.

Did nothing but make me feel sick when I had it but that was 8 years ago and with my last I just stayed away from it bc I was doing good and then I got the epidural

Yep from the UK and used it too. I absolutly love it, I'm actually looking forward to labour to use gas and air again lol. It doesn't take the pain away but it masks the pain by making you feel drunk basically. It doesn't last and as soon as you take the mask away it stops working. It makes some women feel sick and some don't like feeling lightheaded so don't like it. I however love it, it did a really good job to calm me down too.

Have had 3 babies with it but in the UK we call it gas and air. I love the stuff it helps with your breathing and only lasts a few minutes each time you breath it. Definitely give it a try

I did at first and it was a joke! I was still in so much pain that I was actually passing out with contractions and they woke me up by putting the oxygen mask on my face. I finally got my epidural and was happy as a clam:)
