He's Finally Here

So I'm a little late but hey I did just have a baby. Titan was born September 12th, 2012. I must tell you moms about my labor and delivery.

I woke up around 6am that Wednesday morning. I was feeling something in my lower abdomen but I chucked them up to be Braxton Hicks because they weren't regular or painful. So I shook them off. Went about my day running errands and whatnot. Mind you my due date was Friday the 14th.

Around 3ish, these "feelings" started to make an impact and get a little painful. (And I'm a first time mother) My mother-in-law said it might be gas so I drank some Ginger Ale. The pains kept coming but they were not regular at all. 45 minutes apart, 15 minutes apart, an hour apart. I called the doctor and they said if they get to 5-10 minutes apart within an hour, come in to L&D.

Around 4:15pm, I started to time them. They were coming about every 13-15 minutes apart at that time so I told everyone it was time to go to the hospital.

That day was also moving day for us (go figure). We are meeting with the apartment people, sitting on the couch talking to them and POP, GUSH!! My water broke! It freaked them out too so they left soon thereafter. I mean, it was just like the movies. And it was a LOT! Geesh! I was not expecting that at all. After I dried off and changed clothes I lost my mucous plug and we were on our way. I was practicing my breathing the whole way but each contraction got closer and worse.

Got to the hospital & the nurse checked me & reported I was 10cm + 2 (you're usually 10cm +4 to deliver). Checked in at 7:30pm & he was out at 7:43pm with 3 good pushes. All natural, no drugs at 9lbs, 1 oz & 20inches long. YAY!!

Sorry its such a long post but I am just so excited. I love him sooooooo much. Motherhood is such an amazing thing! Good luck to you mommies!!

Thanks!! Yes Sharon we did actually get the apartment so thank God!

Alyse, you can do it!! I made a natural birth seem much worse than it actually is in my head. I pictured in my mind that it would be a near death kind of pain experience. It did hurt, but it was bearable. My breathing methods during the contractions helped me out a lot. Practice on natural breathing techniques and focusing on the big picture, getting your little one out. "You have everything INSIDE of you to get he/she OUT"
