FUSTRATED ABOUT MY PRENATAL CARE!!!

Im having a hard time getting a doctor. I just moved from Maryland back to Hawaii. And when i was in Maryland i had medical and they didnt care how far along you are to give you the attention that you needed. And i just got my medical in Hawaii and i called a person that my old OB/GYN had rccommended for me and the receptionist had said that she didnt take patients over 15 weeks. Is that normal? I find it a little silly, because i think that if someone needs medical attention due to a pregnancy she should be able to get the attention that she needs. And i need it, i need to do a sugar level test and just get to the doctors. I am getting really fustrated with it, i mean its not too hard to just take me in as a patient. Im so CONFUSSED and totally FUSTRATED!! All i want to do is get seen by a doctor and start to make a bond with the person who ould potentially delivery my child. I know that my baby is healthy i had an ultrasound before i had left Maryland, but i wanna get another one because me and my hubby have decided to find out that sex of our child after many months of saying no. So we want that and we want to make sure that the baby is growing at the pace that he/she is supposed to. Im so confussed................i dont know how to get myself some prenatal care if the doctors here are that freaking picky!! Anyone have any advice for me to get things together? I have already sent an online thing to get information on prenatal doctors..maybe i'll get something from there but let me know of anything that i should do.

Thanks

Esmay

Hey, try calling your insurance and tell them your having a hard time finding a doctor to take you and they will actually tell you of the doctors in the area.  I know some doctors will do that, not to take you if your over 15 weeks because your already on your way and like to see you from the beginning!  I am sorry your having to deal with this!

Okay I am really confused, you say on your profile that your husband is in Iraq...Military?  If he's in the military then you should have tricare.  You can go to Schoefield Barracks, Tripler maybe Makalapa, Kaneohe or get aproval through Tricare for a local Dr. if you want.  Where in Maryland are you moving from?  We just PCSed from Maryland out to Hawaii a couple of months ago.  If you need help or want a pregnant friend on the island let me know.  Good luck on the search.

Instead of calling the doctors office I would march down there and ask to speak to the doctor directly and then tell them everything that you have just told us. That is so weird that they would be so picky and rude. People over 15 weeks need medical coverage too!
