For already mothers

What is the recovery like after a vaginal birth? How bad is the pain, how long does it last, how long do you bleed & how heavy is the bleeding. Also how is it having your baby? I guess altogether what are the first month or two like after delivery?

My labor with my first from beginning to end was only 8 hours 7 of them being at the hospital i pushed for an entire hour cuz i wasn't sure on how to do it i got i think it was 38 stitches and my recovery wasn't that bad at all my docs wife runs his practice with him so her gives all new moms that had a vaginal birth this care kit with i think they were like preparation h wipes and this spray that's like first aid spray but it didn't burn at all i used it after going to the bathroom every time and the pain didn't really bother me at but with my son that stupid doc let me tear instead of cutting me and when he stitched me back up he couldn't make everything meet up right so there was as he called it and announced to everyone in the room "extra pieces" that he had to literally cut off! That recovery was terrible i didn't have s care kit like before so i tried to buy what i could remember was in it and i bought first aid spray cuz i thought that's what the other doc gave me and the first time i used it mi husband was on the other side of the house from me and I screamed so freaking loud he came running thinking something was really seriously wrong and when i told him what happened he laughed like crazy at me lol... I bled for about a week and a half and pretty much did the same that lisaerin said slept when they slept and did what i could when i could birth is intense just keep thinking about the prize at the end and you'll make it through just fine :) cuz once you get that little one in your arms you forget completely about all the pain and how hard it all was cuz you'll just be in awe of how beautiful and precious this little human being your little human being is :) but everybody is different some people are in labor for hours even days some only an hour or two some people need a hundred stitches some don't need any some bleed for a month and a half some don't even bleed for a week (lucky ones !!) So no matter what all of us tell you about our labor and delivery and life with a newborn yours could be completely opposite do don't stress about it cuz all it's gonna do is scare the heck out of you :) good luck and i really do wish you the best :)

My first was tough, but my daughter broke my tailbone on the way out, so that was most of it, second two not so bad.  I had bleeding with each of mine for a couple weeks, and for me it was quite a bit heavier then my period for the first week then slowed down.  I got a few stitches, but the healing want to rough, a good idea is to make ice packs out of newborn diapers, and wear them like a pad, helps so much.  Also just keep as clean as possible.  The pain really didn't even last a week for me, but really there want much pain at all, just some discomfort.  The worst is actually the cramps that you get, especially while nursing to contract your uterus back to size, but its one of those things that gets worse with each child, so wasn't so bad with my first.  Birth was painful, I had three natural births, it was rough, but as soon as your babies in your arms it is so amazing that it didn't even matter.

I had my son 3 weeks ago and I'm still bleeding now. The soreness has finally gone but was very painful for first week and still a bit sore up until a couple of days ago however they did use forceps to get my son out which meant they had to cut me first so I had to have a lot of stitches.

I bled for a week after my labor just like a period. I did have to get stitches but if you pour water on the stitches as your peeing it doesn't burn as bad. My labor was good I got the epidural and it was great. My labor from beginning to end was about 13-14 hrs (only 7 of those hours were at the hospital). The first 2 months are very tiring just getting adjusted to a newborn and getting your self healed up take a lot out of you and daddy :) my son slept so much so I was able to nap when he did and just did what I could around the house.
