The laws are changing so you should prolly look it up in your state. I can't remember what state passed it but when I baby test positive for drugs they can charge the mother with child endangerment....and I know in mi or at least the hospitals around where I live has a social worker come into your room to see you then they send cps to your home....
Uh thats very rare ^^^ .
Cps (dhhs in my state) interviews you, they come look at your home n talk to who you live w to see if they think you have any issue parenting, safe environment etc, then they determine weather theres a risk or not, normally not, unless theres a real drug problem thatd be a different story. You get a letter in a couple weeks either saying there was no significant findings and they're closing your case.
Or telling you what they found for issues and informing you they're opening a case against you and they'll be in contact shortly.
But they don't just take your child for smoking weed. Trust me.
I think every case is different. Maybe different states have different ways of handling things.
My brothers gf smoked so my nephew tested positive CPS came to their house talked to them and some other family members and then closed the case. They do NOT automatically take your baby.
i had a good friend that had baaad morning sickness her whole pregnancy so she smoked weed to get an appetite. But when her little girl was born, they took her baby away immediately and the baby had to stay with relatives that could pass a drug test.
Pretty sure they take the baby right then and there no questions asked.
I think cps or the social worker will pay the person a visit.
O.o im pretty sure they call child protective services if baby is positive for any kind of drug in their systems. Idk though.
