Yay Congratz! That is a quick labor for a first timer... Mine (with my first and induced) was 36 hours and my second was 17 hours.... I cant wait to see pics!
Yay!!! It's about time!!! I was wondering if you'd ever have that little man :)
Omg so started cervidili at 7pm started contracting at 6am started pitocin @ 7am broke my water shortly after got crazy contractions couldnt concentrate, got epidural and by noon i was ready to push waited til 12:30 and he came out at 2:35 weighing 8lbs and 15 ounces so cute i will post pics soon!!! Dr said it was the fastest birth for a first timer.. Im sooo happy he is sooo cute!!
Oh, yeah, I also got swollen hands and feet - didn't have that all throughout the pregnancy until I was in labor with the pitocin. They went down fairly quickly, though...not sure how many hours/days..but I don't remember being swollen for long.
And, if I am induced again, I hope it goes faster like it did for some of you ladies. Is that how it normally goes for subsequent births/inductions?
You're off to a good start! :-) Best wishes! Can't wait to see that stubborn baby of yours!!
jenkaye - that is crazy...I guess that gel sure worked for you! I don't remember if I got the gel with my induction last time, but I'm gonna be induced Thursday if this baby doesn't come on her own - I'll have to ask them about it...I want some magic gel to speed things along!
I have no experience with inductions, but wanted to say Good luck!! Hope everything works out for you and that you will be holding your baby soon! :)
Thank you ladies! I just got checked and they said im 2 cm and 90% effaced and really soft...
I had that gel with my first around 2:00 p.m.. It was supposed to "get things started" then they were gonna let me sleep all night (haha) and start Pitocin in the a.m. Well the gel got things going, they started pitocin early, and i had her at 2:36 a.m. Since then i've had 3 non-induced births and I can't say they were much different from the one that was induced. No epidurals with any of them. Don't be disappointed; all that matters is the end result! Good luck!
Oh, the pitocin does cause terrible selling of the hands and feet for a few days afterwards; that was my worst "side effect". It can cause headaches, too. Totally worth it! :)
I was induced with my first and I had no sign of going into labor (no dilation or effacing). Like you I had to go in the night before for the gel and by the next morning I believe I was 1cm dilated and maybe 50-70% somewhere around there it has been way too long, lol. They started me on the pitocin I didn't have horrible pain until 10 hours into it. Got the epidural 12 hours into it and 16 hours into it I was ready to push. 23 minutes of pushing and he was born. It wasn't a bad labor and delivery at all and the recovery was normal. I hope everything goes well for you! Can't wait to hear about your birth story!!!
I was induced all three times so far frist time it was a long process seeing as I wasn't ready at all took my body awhile to get it going.second times it was fine short took about five jours start to finish and same with the third. it was a little longer as I was induced early due to my bp being to high I did notice the contravtions seemed to get stronger quicker but that was about it I also got an epidural each time good luck hoping things go well for you and u meet ur lil one soon
I got induced with my first baby. I did not get the gel that I remember. I went in at 7am and by 7:30 was hooked up to the pitocin drip and also the drip they give you to keep you hydrated. At about 12 noon or so, the contractions were getting way strong and painful, so I got myself a nice epidural and no more pain! I made it to 10cm dilated by just after 6pm and pushed for 30-40minutes and my boy was born at 6:53PM :-) I started the whole thing just at 1-2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I know you wanted to go in to labor on your own (me too - especially w/ this baby since it's my last one), but girl you are way past due - I bet your little man will come really fast! :-) Good luck - I can't wait to hear how it goes..I'll be thinking of you tonight and tomorrow!
