Glucose Test

Is It Bad To Not Go For Your Glucose Test ? I Took It The First Time Where You Had To sit There For An Hour .. But Then They Called Me Saying I Failed It & That I Had To Come Back To Do It Again , But Instead Of An Hour .. I Have To Sit There For 3 hours !! I'm Like Extremely Busy In The Morning & The Lab Hours Are 7-3 & They Go On Break At 12-1 .. i Work Almost Everyday At 11am Besides Wednesday & Thursdays , So I Never Actually Have Time To Sut There For Them 3 Hours .. & When Wednesday & Thursday Actually Do Come Im Wayyy To Exhausted To Even Wake Up At 8am To Go & Sit There For 3 Hours -_- .. I Know I Needa Just Suck It Up & Just Wake Up Early One Morning , But Has Anyone Else Skipped It ? Or Just Didnt Go Get It Done For Some Reason ? I Dont Wanna Just Brush It To The Side If Its Really That Important ! & Btw Im 35 Weeks So Its Getting Kinda Close To My Due Date

Truthfully if diabetes doesn't run in your family then no you don't need to take the test. As long as you keep a steady diet and don't eat lots of junk food you should be fine.

You should deff go to the 2nd Testing they told me I have GD but I dont  have to be put on insulin because I have mine under control alot of bad things could happen if you don't get it under control he/she could have shoulder problems coming out or they could possibly  pass away from getting too big it's not fun being On a diet and pregnant And I also haven't gained but 9 pounds but deff go back and I wish you good luck

They also often birth babies sooner if the mum has gd just so there is no risks of getting stuck or anything if it is a larger babay

Jacki if you havnt gained to much weight I wouldn't worry to much about it. A friend of mine was able to completely control her gd with what she ate and never had to take insulin or anything she gave birth to a healthy baby girl...she had gd her next pregnancy and had to take insulin every day because she couldn't control it. If you have gd your baby will be tested for diabetes. If you don't look after yourself with gd the baby has a much higher risk of having diabetes...it also can cause birth defects ( so I'm told) and can make you have big big babies ....so its best to look after yourself if you do have it. But I wouldn't worry too much if your not excessively gaining wait

I just took mine and I'm 37 weeks. It said it came back positive but I'm really small people don't think I'm about to give birth in 16 days I look like I'm 7 months pregnant. I'm also having a hard time getting to the appointment just because I depend on rides and everyone has been working and can't take me every week. So far everything has been healthy. I'm just wondering what are the things that can happen if I do have diabetes? Because I haven't even gained 15 pounds the whole pregnancy. I've only gained 10 but keep losing and gaining them.

^agreed. Its very imprtant you follow up and take the 3 hr if your levels were elevated. You dont wana go through the rest of ur pregnancy not knowing whether or not you have GD because it requires special diet and excercise for the health of you and especially baby.

Uh yes you should go. How is this even a question... So many complications could arise from having untreated gestational diabetes...Plus you could give birth to a giant baby if you have GD and don't look after yourself
