Underdeveloped Fetus with Slow Heart Rate - Any Hope?

Yesterday I went in for my first ultrasound and it showed a fetus was only developed to the size of 6 weeks / 4 days (not the 7 weeks / 5 days it ought to have been).  Additionally, the heart rate was only 80 beats per minute, not in the 90-110 range that would've been normal.  To make worries worse, I miscarried my first pregnancy in October and it only developed to about week 5 and there is no way that we've miscalculated when we conceived.  My beta levels have been low, but within the normal range so far.  I have a follow-up ultrasound in 3 days - do I have any reason to hope for this baby to survive and be healthy?

I just got out of the doctor's office. I am 10 weeks 1 day pregnant and the u/s showed 10 weeks 2 days. The problem is that the heart rate was around 90. My doctor said that he could look at the heart beating and tell it was going faster than that, but that for some reason his machine was only picking up every other beat. He said we should double the 90 to have 180 bpm. I would not be so concerned, but I had a missed miscarrage in January. I went in for my 20 week sono and they baby did not have a heart beat. It measure right at 15 weeks. They were never able to determine what had happend. I had a full term pregnancy 5 years ago with no problems at all. I am 32. Does it sound normal the the sonogram machine would be able to pick up every other heart beat and not pick up all of them? If the heart rate really is around 90 what could be wrong with it?

I am 12 weeks pregnant, 10 by my calculations because I know the date I concieved. I had mild spotting a couple days ago. My doctor sent me for an u/s and the u/s dr. said he saw a fetus that was measuring 7wks. He said this was abnormal. I don't know what kind of heartbeat he heard. They sent me for a beta test and now we have to wait over the weekend to see what happens next we. My husband and I are very scared and already preparing for the worst. I had one healthy pregnancy and delivery so far and wasn't prepared for this. Can anyone give a positive spin on this? thanks

They said I was 1 1/2weeks behind my LMP. But Turns out it was only cause U/S are usually off by 1-7days or so. Now at 17w I'm right on track and due Sept 13

I hope this helps. BTW< I don't remember my babie's heartbeat that early.

I am 7 weeks + pregnant. I began spotting over 24 hours ago. it started out as light brownish, and is now bright red and clotted and more than just spotting. I went to my OB today. He detected a heart rate of 90 bpm, which he said was slow, and the size of the embryo is 5 weeks. I am so sad. Does anyone know of any situations like this that had a positive outcome?

I'm sorry to hear you're in the same boat, but take hope in all the stories on this site.  It sounds like there have been TONS of cases where one of following has occurred: 1) miscalculation of conception; 2) late implantation; 3) mismeasurement of fetus; and more.  So there are still plenty of reasons to hope for a positive outcome.  I go for my follow-up u/s in an hour.  I'm terrified, but am keeping the hope alive.  I'll let you know what I find out.  Take care! :)
