My mom had toxemia When she was pregant with me, and feet are already starting to swell bad and only 20weeks. What are the chances that I might get toxemia?

Did you get put on bed rest or anything? What did your doctor say for you to do?

A lot of the time doctors will chalk it up to being the heat, or just an unfortunate effect that pregnancy has on you. They should be checking your blood pressure, as well as your urine for proteins at every visit. If those are both fine, you aren't having contractions, and your swelling isn't too terrible (which you'd be amazed how big they have to swell to cause concern) then they will typically be led to believe that it's just from the pregnancy. I have gone into the doctor twice now over my swelling, and all of the crazy symptoms I had that all matched preeclampsia to a T, and both times It turned out I was just fine. It's definitely scary, and tests your patience, but as long as your doctor is checking and keeping up on it, you should be okay. Just make sure to follow his/her instructions.

That's what I was thinking to but he didn't seem to worried at my last apt so I thought that was weird

I would call them and tell the doctor just in case. 20w is early for your feet to swell already.

Well when I was 19weeks had my last apt told him about the swelling and that they have been swelling since about 17 weeks and all he said was to stay off them as much as I can and prop them up when I'm not on them, I didn't know my mom had that till after the apt. He pretty much put me on bed rest and I don't have another apt till August 11 witch I'll be 23 weeks and 3 days

I would definitely talk to your doctor about that since it is a very dangerous thing that they need to know about and moniter

Bump
