circumcision... who is doing it?

My boyfriend and I have been going back and fourth on wether or not we will circumsize our son. We are leaning towards not doing it and was just wondering what other mommies thoughts on this were?

My 2yr old isnt and this one wont be either. and statistics show that 47% of parents are not circumcising their boys now a days so dont make the decision based on thinking he will be teased. I would do a lot of research on it before deciding. People says its a personal choice which I guess it is but it should be an educated choice not just oh its cleaner or looks weird or his father is so he wants his son to be. there are good reason no to cut and in my opinion no good reason to cut.

We had our son circumcised.  I never once had the thought that I didn't want to pull the skin back to clean it, so it's judgemental and out of line to say that we choose it because we are lazy.. A lot of people do it for religious purposes but I believe most people do it now because the dad is. We decided to do it after my eight year old cousin had to go to the e room cause his little penis was purple from infection. Also my grandpa had to have it done when he was 40. Also because my husband is circumcised. My son wasn't in any pain that I could tell. He didn't fuss or anything when we had to put Vaseline on it. It all just depends on what you want for your son. They say it makes it less sensitive but what guy do you really know man I wish I had my foreskin? They're guys... Lol they're just happy they are getting some....

My boyfriend and I are NOT doing it. Which is funny in a way because before I got pregnant (and did research on it) I would have automatically said I would get a boy circumcised if I had one. Even up until over half this pregnancy, I was set on doing it. That is until one day a friend of mine asked me if I was or not, and told me I should really research or before I made that choice. And even though I just "knew" I would still choose to after researching it, I knew she was right about needing to research it. I owed it to my baby to be fully educated on both choices in order for me to make a fair decision for him. Well, after tons of researching circumcision and not circumcising, I can proudly say with confidence that my bf and I are choosing not to. (My bf is circumcised, and he was set on doing it as well before he started researching with me) I'm not bashing anyone who chooses to do it, that is solely their choice as the parent of their baby that they are entitled to. I would just suggest to anyone who hasn't done any research on it, to do so. It definitely changed my mind! :)

I heard that gettting it done also reduces pleasure for the male. I'm not sure on it honestly. Just something my fiance told me.

i think its just lazy some women are doin it just because its more easy to clean but fact is there lazy and dony wany to do the work of raisin the skin and clean and also i asked my fiance feels about it and he said he would hate his mother if she did it to him because that skin protects the head since its so sensitive when u wear underwear it will rub and feel irritated thats why its important to have the skin on there

I left the decicion up to my fiance because he was curcumcized at birth but the doctor messed up so at age 18 he had to have it re-done. I figured he would know better than I would as to what is easier and what is best so I'm leaving it up to him.

I am cant have my son walking around with extra skin hanging and as a child I doubt he clean it as well as he should

I won't be getting it done either. I'm in England n drs here would not even consider performing it on new borns for 'hygiene' reasons. I personally find it very hard to understand why its so common for this reason abroad. Yes there is a very small risk that a boy may need to be circumcised in the future due to medical reasons but that shouldn't be a reason to do it. My husband was circumcised due to medical reasons when he was 8 n he said it was horribly painful,peeing was agony for a long time after  n would never put our son through that unless it was a necessity. I think its there for a reason n it should be left alone

Yea my bf isnt either and has never had any issue. My biggest concern was him being made fun of for it but it seems like it is becoming more popular not to that its not worth doing.

I never did with either of my sons. My hubby is from Europe and was never circumsized so didnt make sense for us to do it to our boys. My hubby has never had an infection or any problems. We havent had a problem yet with our boys eithet. Its just a personal preference whether u circumsize or not.

We're not getting our son circumsized. We don't find it necessary, to us the skin is there for a reason. Many women say it's cleaner, but if you're cleaning his penis the way you're supposed to there's no reason to get it cut. Good luck though! :)

I'm in Scotland and its considered normal not to circumsize here (aside from religious reasons). Personally I think its a pointless thing to do - there's no evidence to support that it promotes better hygiene and its an unnecessary stress to put baba through.

I'm going to circumcise my little man ASAP. It's better to do it before they get older because the healing process won't be as hard. And it's beneficial to the baby boy for less likely of an infection. But it's really all up to you! (:
