Thank you I should have posted earlier then lol I've been torturing myself since they took him this morning!
Im sure it will be fine and that he will pass! And although it is painful and definately stressful ..just remember it will pass!!! Sorry my posts were so long...its just that I was in the exact situation and couldve written your post myself!!
Thank you so much I don't know the levels they just told me they were high but that he will be fine but it still breaks my heart i want to have him here beside me and they're not testing his hearing again until dec 6 so I pray everything will be fine by then
And do not worry about the hearing test!!! Im sure your baby will pass it before going home!! Its just that there is still some liquid inside the ears causing the sound waves to not be able to pass thru which will clear up soon! My son completely failed the first day.only the left ear passed the second day and he passed completely on the third day! Youre a ftm right? I also am and the jaundice and failed hearing yest were the same obstacles my son had.scared the crap outta me!! But today at almost 3 weeks old my son is doing wonderful...!!!! Everything will be just fine! Do not worry and dont stress!! These are everyday things among some newborns and your child will get thru it stronger thqn ever !!
Do you know what the bilirubin level is? When we were discharged my sons level was at 13 the next day it was at 15 and the day after that it went up to 17. But 2 days later the level had went down to 12 and 2 days after that it was at 10. The levels rise before they go back down and it passes in pee and poop and the light is to help break it down to help it pass.although jaundice CAN be serious its very common for newborns to have it.and passes completely in about 2 weeks.it makes the baby really tired and thats why it stressed me so much because my son was so sleepy he would barely eat but after a few days of the take-home light I had(the one theyre using on your baby is stronger, therwfore works faster) he was eating more and looking a normal color! ot stressed me out so much...having to take my son to the doctor everyday, watch him get his heel p ricked to take blood, then waiting with my phone in hand for the doctor to call and tell me the levels! Like I said,i cried everyday the first few days home wondering why my baby had this and wondering what I did wrong..but after doing research and being reassured by family and friends...i understood it wasnt my fault that it just happens and just like it happens...it passes!!
Thank you ladies so much I feel much more calm now and excited for all of this to pass I get to see him in an hour to feed him and I can't wait :) he's my world and I just feel bad because I feel like I could have done better when I was pregnant but like one of you said it could have been worse. Thank you all so much
if you only had him 2 days ago there wont be any milk to come out just a small amount of colostrum, your doing great, keep the pumping up even if it seems as if nothing is comming out at the nipple stimulation will encourage your milk to come in this doesnt usually happen until around day 3 anyway :) as for the jaundice, plenty of babies have this, when you do take him home make sure you pop him down without a nappy on for 5-10 min in the sunshine, not direct, but lay him down where the sun is shinning throught the window, this will help get rid of the jaundice, , they will probably do another hearing test before discharge and hopefully he will pass this,, your doing everything right and dont forget once you get bub home to keep up with the breastfeeding often and this will also help with your supply and with the jaundice :D
My son failed to hearing tests in the hospital amd finally passed on discharge day....completely normal.he also had jaundice...freaked me out I cried the first two days we were home.i had to get a bililight from my pediatrivian and keep him on it for the first 4 days we were home....i had a real hard time getting him.to stay alert to eat and that upset me more than amything.i had to fight the jaundice battle at home alone.yout baby is being monitered closely and the doctors are right there to help your baby! jaundice does pass! It helped me by tqlking to my friends that have children....both of them said their child also had jaundice I know its stressful and painful to not have a "perfect" baby...but it couldve been worse! Just stay strong and let god and the doctors take care of this! Everything will be just fine!!!!!
It's not your fault it happend my bro had a hole in one ear drum and water on the other when he was born and he is fine the water come out in 2 half weeks and his drum repaired its self bye the time he was 1 he is now 12 and he is perfect so don't stress it's not good just enjoy your little one he will be better and fighting fit in no time love..try not to stress as its not good for you or for little one love..you have a beautiful baby he will be ok soon love xx
I am sure everything will be okay. I understand you must be a wreck.. I know I would be too. I had jaundice when I was born, and so did many many babies I know. Take a deep breathe, and just know everything will be okay. Like the above poster said about her baby and the hearing test, that could be what is going on with your baby. Just have hope and faith. I am sorry you have to feel this way right now! :((

My son jumps and flinches in his sleeps alot like punches and kicks so I can't tell if it's noise or not but he doesn't wake up when there's alot of noise
Get a second opinion via your pediatrician I would think. Ive never had my kids fail a hearing test so Im not sure. But it possibly is more common than you think :)
My second little boy faild two hearin tests i wos panickin watch the baby for loud noises to see if he jumps i took him alder hey hospital avweek later and e passed
