High- Risk Pregnancy Help? CMV

I am 16 years old. I am 24 weeks pregnant and my baby has many problems. Enlarged placenta, enlarged heart, too much bloood flow to the brain, and she is anemic. All of this is because my baby is infected with CMV. My doctor says she will not survive... has anyone else gone through this? What do i do?

I agree with grandmatobe....get a second opinion...too many times doctors are wrong.

I did find this on the internet though:

CMV is the most important cause of congenital viral infection in the US. For infants who are infected by their mothers before birth, two potential pictures exist:

Generalized infection may occur in the infant, and symptoms may range from moderate enlargement of the liver and spleen (with jaundice) to fatal illness. With supportive treatment, most infants with CMV disease survive. However, from 80% to 90% have complications within the first few years of life that may include hearing loss, vision impairment, and varying degrees of mental retardation.
Another 5% to 10% of infants who are infected have no symptoms at birth but subsequently have varying degrees of hearing and mental or coordination problems.

I just googled the virus and as far as I can tell it doesn't say that fetal death is common.  Did your doctor give you more specific reasons?  Do you have a lot of family to support you?

You can do some research on CMV on Google, but at quick glance, I wasn't seeing anything that mentioned a baby dying from CMV specifically.  Maybe in those cases, they hadn't developed the additional problems your baby is encountering.

What is your doctor suggesting at this point?  I would get a second opinion as well.
