How long?

I had a miscarrage in may and this was my 1st baby, and I so dearly want another child. I'm wondering how long do you have to wait to try again for another baby. My doctor said I should have three full periods before I should try again, has anyone else waited this long? By the way I'm on period #2 now......

Hi, im sorry for your loss. Most doctors try to tell you what they think is best for your situation, their is really no proven FACTS that women should wait, or conceive right away.  If your going to m/c your going to m/c, especially if its just because of a chromosonal abnormality.  This was my first m/c, i have a 13 yr old son, when i got preggo i was still in school and was under a lot of stress, even though my dr said said stress alone would not cause me to m/c.  My dr told me to wait after i cycle, and to be honest she did not have proven fact why i should.  She said to give your body a chance to heal and to track your first period.  Im also a nurse. So you will see some post where women dr s have told them to wait 1, 3, 6, and even a year. My mom had a m/c before and before her cycle she got preggo and had my brother.  I am waiting because i needed the time to greive and accept what happened to me.  I am just now excepting the fact that i was preggo and lost the baby, i will never forget but i am now trying to move forward, that m/c had messed with me mentally/emotionaly, but now i am having better and brighter days.  I had a missed m/c june 12th i was 10w and 3days, u/s showed i was 10 weeks, so baby had been dead 3 days, but on the 12 is when i noticed something was not right and went to er, and had second u/s following week with ob dr.(i also got to have a burial service july 10th at the cemetry, which actually the closure helped me to try to move forward.

Maybe it would help you if you asked your dr why she wants you to wait so long, again like i said, most dr s give you a time frame based on your own situation and history. Just remember emotional and physical stress can wear down the body, so make sure you are well in both areas.  I wish you much baby dustttt and if you ever need to chat im me anytime, keep us posted on what you decide to do:)

I know I can't understand how you are feeling but I would listen to you doctor. You don't want to try again so soon and then it happen again. Just wait it out one more period. Good luck and sorry for your loss.

My doctor told me to wait 3-6 cycles to try and get pregnant again....Unfortuantely..I didn't listen the first time and I ended up getting pregnant a month later and miscarrying again.  (that was my 3rd miscarriage.)  HOWEVER....I now have a gorgeous 1 year old and hubby and I are TTC #2!

Good luck sweetie!

Hi, I have had two miscarriages now and me and my other half didnt wait until i had 3 periods we got straight back to work with bedding as much as possible in the hope baby number 3 will be conceived! My advise to you is try again when you both feel physically and emotionally ready to try again. One of the reasons why they say to wait three months is so your body has time to adjust back to normal and they can date your pregnancy better if you have a period in between miscarriages but a friend of mine had a miscarriage and she then fell pregnant straight away again with no period in between and she has a healthy and beautiful baby boy. Good luck.x
