I don't breast feed in public. I pump and use that to bottle feed all day and at night I do the breast feeding. This way people can help me through out the day. I was getting too stressed breast feeding all day and night. When I'm going somewhere I bring a lunchbox with an ice pack and put a bottle of breast milk in there and bring a cup with me if I'm going to be at a store or something and if he gets hungry I fill it with warm water to get the milk to temp.

I pump exclusively cause my baby won't latch on.. I pump every 3 hrs and just store my milk in bottles in the fridge. They're good for 4 days in the fridge. Once you heat a bottle though and they drink from it and say they don't finish it all it can't be used again... So I put 2.5 oz into each bottle so I don't waste much (the max she will drink is 2.5 oz every 3 hrs.. She's 2 weeks old)

Thanks so much! I have anxiety about leaving the house because of this. Im going to try pumping for times when we go out. Maybe once I have BF a little more established ill be able to BF in public.

I agree with physicsmommy - there are loads of shops / places that have areas for breast feeding mums and there is always your car. Wear a shawl if climate allows then people can't see anything. Or you can pump a couple of hours before you go out. I used to feed before heading out and occasionally I'd sit in the car a feed my daughter if it was a day out somewhere. UK isn't as geared up to breastfeeding mums unfortunately. Just relax - once you've done it a couple of times it'll feel normal. Try the above if you're uncomfortable x

My baby has been in the nicu for the past 17 days so i pump every 3 hours and freeze it than take it to her. Jus pump every few hours so ur supply doesn't stop

My baby shower I got bottles that are Shape to wear it feels like they're actually using your nipple instead of a Bottle So it doesn't cause problems during breastfeeding switching back and forth I have plenty of nursing Blankets to use as covers whenever I do have to breastfeed in public Good luck:))

I just got a cover and if I was somewhere I didn't feel comfortable doing it I would go sit in my car with the AC on (I live in Phoenix so no need for heat).  More places have rooms now as well like babiesrus and some malls so you can have some privacy.

If you really don't feel comfortable you can always bf and pump to feed bottles when in public.

Id like to know too :) i want to BF but im not sure how confortable i am with this whole public thing. There are such weird and crazy people out there it freaks me out a little.
