I feel like a total Failure (vent)

Besides me being totally sad about my situation with my baby (diagnosed with T18)....My doctor examined me yesterday and told me that my cervix is still posterior and very high + thick. He told me that it seems as if my body is not reacting properly and is refusing to prepare itself for labor by thinning my cervix or dilating. I am completely devastated by the news and I feel so helpless and like a complete failure. I will be 39 weeks in two days and I might go past my due date. This is rare it being my third baby and plus this puts my baby at even greater risk because she can pass away in my womb giving me no chance at holding her while she's still alive. He recommended I walk A LOT. Like to the point where I am beyond exhausted so that contractions can help the process. I asked him if they could induce me and he said it wouldn't help because my body wouldn't react and I would just have to end up needing an Emergency C-Section, something that we decided against in our initial birth plan. I don't know what to do! I am so overwhelmed!

@Nichole: Thank you for sharing your story. I'm glad that you still have your daughter around. Comes to show how god works in mysterious ways And does create miracles. My doctor has offefed me an induction and that still stands but since I am not dilated and my cervix is still very high etc. he won't do it because he says my body wouldn't take it well and he doesn't want to risk me reaching that 24hr mark of me.being in labor with no.progress and have to do an emergency c section. That's why he won't induce me yet.

My daughter was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 at my 12 week scan. there was no  activity in her brain my entire pregnancy.  I just want to give you some hope - my daughter turned 3 December 9th.  She was born a week late with induction and I don't understand why they won't consider inducing you. Honesty it was offered to me around 37 w.

Praying for you to be able to go into labor naturally and soon! I could not imagine going through what you are. You and your family, and of course your baby girl, are in my thoughts and prayers. I have no labor induction ideas, as my last was a week late, but good luck getting her out so you can see her. Sending love and prayers your way!

I was first told by ultrasound technician. Then I got sent to see a genetic counselor and a specialist. They gave me the amniocentesis and it cams back positive. I also had a detailed ultrasound and a heart echo. They all came back positive. I have been seeing specialists almost every week for about 5 months now. I'm glad that your baby is nice and healthy. My baby kicks a lot too. She's very active and has a strong heart beat. She's a fighter.

@carolina0105: I recently started having more sex. We completely stopped having sex for months because it was so uncomfortable but the sex drive has come back. Lol :)

I didn't dilate or thin with my first until 40 weeks & had her at 40+5. I know your situation is different with the T18 but just wanted to share that it can all happen at once. My doctor told me to walk too & that's what did it for me. Hang in there. It's nothing you've done. Every baby is just different.

@mummytobe : T18 aka Trisomy 18 is a chromosome disorder that is fatal to my baby.
@cheekymeaky: thank you :)
@stacey10: Thanks for sharing your experience with pregnancy. I have been taking primrose oil since week 34 and it hasn't done anything for me (obviously). Lol. I thought they would help but I guess not.
Right now I'm just taking my Doctors advice and walking a lot.

maybe try evening primrose oil, that will help soften your cervix,  and some refelxology or a pregnancy massage with them concentration on your uterus points :)

I've had 10 children and the majority of them have been over due, only 1 has come before her due date and 3 or 4 on their dues dates so you are by no means a failure!! just because you have had two before it doesnt mean that you will go early, but it must be an awful predicament that you find yourself in, and because you have had babies before your body does know what to do, so you may find that you go straight into established labour, I've been keeping an eye out for your posts to see how your going, your wee girl has just about defied all odds so far, so hopefully she can hang on that wee bit longer :)

That does sound werid but you can only do what the dr tells you. I cant imagine how you must feel being faced with possibly losing your child. Think positive and do all you can. I hope someone on here can give you better healthy tops to induce labour as i dont know much as im only 29w myself. Good luck and i hope you and baby are well and you have a safe delivery
