Im just mortified of pooping while I have the baby!! cuz I know when it happens travis is gonna be like "YOU POOPED!!" and then Im gonna want to kill him lol
My hubby did that to me and the Dr laughed at him.
I don't know about the first bath lol. Hubby is scared of little gentle itty bittie things. He even has a hard time holding kittens which is cute. But I think the cord thng won't be so bad for him. Im hoping he gets to cut the cord, and I hope he doesn't embarass me while in labor...like asking if the doc can put in a few stitches lol UHG men!
yeah hubby can cut the cord and as long as everything is ok and the Dr don't mine he can help with the first bath.
Yeah, He is so strange sometimes! I think secretly he is worried it will hurt either me or the baby... lol After seeing the delivery videos in Lamaze I ASKED Travis to stay by my head.. LOL That's definantly some gruesome stuff.. (although I would probably feel different about my own va jay jay and baby.. lol) but yeah, thats good that your hubby is a trooper.. Travis will probably be hiding under my hospital bed crying. lol
Manda,
LOL hubby would def. do it if it squirted out blood....he is soo into the gorey stuff of life which is why I have no issues letting him see *down there* when Conner is on his way. He is actually excited to see it....it's a bit scary, but im happy he is thrilled about the yucky stuff lol.
with my youngest the doctor turned to daddy and asked if he wanted to cut it. he of course did and said it was like cutting through a mixture of lots of yarn and wire?!? i dunno! lol
You're telling me.. My baby has literally NO room.. you can feel exactly where all his body parts are on the OUTSIDE of my stomach.. its creepy lol. and his legs now OVERLAP my ribcage.. so thats a good feeling. lol I would like him to be in my arms instead of in my belly now.
Travis doesn't want to cut the cord because he thinks it will squirt blood and be like cutting off a body part.. I was like are you kidding me?? lol grow up!
well it took a lot for me to convince hubby to do it. He was so paranoid that cutting the cord hurt the baby lol. But after some reassurance he decided he really wanted to do it. So we will see.....I can't wait to have my little Conner in my arms.
It was never discussed for me, they just asked him right on the spot if he wanted to do it. I know every hospital is different though.
Yeah, Its nice to have your doctor an active part of your pregnancy and labor, thats one thing that I really miss about my old hospital. My old doctor (even though my pregnancies didn't last) was so active in my pregnancies.. she gave me her home phone number even and would have me call her at home and update her or let her know about any recent changes.. I really liked her and if I would have had the baby there then I think she would have been a big part of th delivery.
Now with my new hospital, Well lets just say they deliver ALOT of babies here.. they have 22 delivery rooms.. I cant remember what they were saying they delivered here last year... so needless to say this is a big change for me.. I was actually really upset to find out that my own doctor probably wont deliver my son.. I picked her because she was the one I wanted.. (but I guess that's the norm at a lot of hospitals..) Well since I might be induced now my chances of having her there are more likely but I can't imagine she will be there for long, especially if there are other moms she has to attend to! but yeah, Travis has been back and forth about the cord cutting situation so I guess that's something that we will face when it comes down to it.
We are getting so close now! soon all of us october mommies will have our babies!
I can do that. Im actually giving birth in a brand new hospital, so we will see how things go with that. My doc is always very active with deliveries, he is in the room more than the nurses even which is nice. He has delivered my youngest son, so I trust him really well. Im just hoping he doesn't forget that I want my hubby to cut the cord lol.
At my hospital, when you go into labor the nurses go over kind of a "birth plan" with you: Do you want the lights dimmed? do you want music? do you want to take a bath? do you want this? do you want that? before you have the baby. One of the questions is who you want to cut the cord.. From what I understand they will almost always let dad (or another relative) cut the cord, but if there are complications the doctor will cut the cord so that they can focus on taking care of baby. I would just talk to the nurse about it when you are admitted. If they dont ask you just casually bring it up maybe say "Can you please let my doctor know that I would like my husband to cut the umbillical cord?" or maybe even when the doctor comes in.. (dont know how big your hospital is and whether doctor will be in the room much) just let him/her know..
Usually they'll ask if the father wants to do the honors.
My hubby wants to cut our daughter's cord when the day comes.
I guess we'll just have to wait n see.
Try asking a nurse if it'd be okay when the time comes...
