I Hate my Prenatals :-(

Stupid fish oil. Every time I take my pre-natal vitamins I end up burping constantly for about two hours. It is all that fish oil coming up and it makes me gag. I take my vitamins with water right after dinner. If I take them on an empty stomach I will vomit. What do I do? Should I switch to something else or should I suck it up and handle it like a big girl………………….that I’m not LOL.

Ugh…..it is gross and makes me nauseous every time I gag.


Could it be stomach issues I’m having?

My poor cats. I used to add salmon oil to their diet. Their breath would smell like fish all the time. I wonder if they ever felt nauseous lol....

I'm just THIS CLOSE to not taking that stupid Omega 3 anymore...ugh....They make my nausea worse, and when I'm not nauseous they MAKE me nauseous!

These burps are horrible.. my prenatals are gross and make me gag..it says to sit up for 30 mins after u take them ... I. Wonder if that's why?  It helps a bit to take them during a meal and drink lots of milk ...

If I don't, besides the burps, i. Get a taste that tastes like sushi that's been sitting in my stomach for several hrs...eewww

Are you sure it's the vitamins and not the fact that you are in your first trimester? The vitamins make me nauseous. But your symptoms sound more like first trimester symptoms totally unrelated to the vitamins. However, I wouldn't doubt that those vitamins would make your symptoms worse!!! I'm just about to quit taking the stupid Omega 3.

Has anyone prenatal pills made them fill dizzy or get a headache after I am 10 weeks 3 days should this be something I talk to my doctor about because this is my first pregnancy

I use the nature made with DHA prenatals and have never had a problem.

Thank you guys. I appreciate all the input. Will keep trying different things and if I still get the burps then I'll just stop it for good. I do feel worse when I take my prenatals. ugh....and wouldn't it be good enough if I ate tilapia or salmon once a week??

I'm not sure about the fish oil thing, I have never had to take them other than what is already in a prenatal. I am currently pregnant too, and have been unable to keep regular prenatals down as they make me throw up, so my Dr now has me taking 2 childrens chewables a day, 2 chewables have the same if not more nutrients as the prenatal and I am able to keep them down better, so thats a thought if the regular prentals make you sick.

Try putting the fish oil tablets in the freezer.  It is suppose to help decrease the after taste.  Are you taking regular fish oil tablets or the Omega 3(with fish oil in it) tablets included with the prenatal vitamins?  I use to take fish oil tablets before getting pregnant, but my doctor said I should stop due to the high amount of vitamin A in the straight fish oil tablets.  She said I could take the Omega 3 vitamins included in my one-a-day vitamin, because they are specifically formulated for pregnant women.

I had the same problem. The first few weeks I had to start taking them, I would gag and the pill would come back up. I went back to the pharmacy and got the mason natural brand, no-burp. I take it with milk and have no issue with burping. The smell still makes me gag, but I hold my nose.

Switch to a prenatal that does NOT have fish oil.  My ob suggested that I ensure mine did NOT have fish oil becuase it makes morning sickness worse.  He said just to make sure it has atleast 1 mg of folic acid.

have you tried maybe having a few bites of dinner then your tabs then the remainder of your dinner, this seemed to help when i was pregnant, and i didnt get the horrible burps after!

Try a different brand of fish oil. Some are designed specifically to not come 'back up' at all.

OH I have the same problem. I take two additional fish oil pills with my prenatals and for the next few hours I'm burping nasty fish oil up. It's gross. I hate it. I haven't figured out how to get rid of this yet.
