I have an urgent question.

I'm a first time mom who is in between insurances right now, i'm twenty two and I was wondering about obamacare and prenatal/delivery healthcare options. I am currently trying to finish up school and can't spend an arm and leg, so what are some of you ladies doing as far as healthcare? Are prenatal visits covered in most plans? Birthing is expensive and we are looking to go with a midwife and do home birth...if anyone has any info. about the cost or affordability of these options it would be greatly appreciated. We live in IL. Thank you

Medicaid is obamacare. It covers prescriptions, delivery, and care for you and baby after delivery too.

I live in Michigan so idk how different things are. But I just whiched my insurance (medicaid) and it covers quite a bit of stuff even circumcision which I hear a lot of insurances dont. Pretty much everything during my pregnancy is paid for so you guys may have medicaid plans I just went online and then they mailed me the info. You can also call your local DHS office

If you want a home birth medicaid won't cover it, most insurance companies dont. Your cheapest hospital birth would be a non medicated birth with a midwife. Also, if it is mandatory for you to have an iv, ask that it not be a continuous drip (150 per bag). Also, skip the 3d ultrasound,  it costs more and isn't necessary.  The less interventions you have, the less money it costs.

Thank you ladies for responding..and yes America ***** as far as healthcare goes...wish I could move to a diff. Country lol. And how exactly would you go about getting a medical card? I know I probably sound stupid but I've never really had to worry about these things before.
