Babies work less hard to get formula from the bottle than they do with breast so baby may reject breast feeding if you are giving them formula first. However you can supplement and tube feed formula as baby is latvhed to the nipple (google it) :-)

@libellula...was it hard to make the transfer of formula feeding to breastfeeding? I am really nervous about it..
You're not supposed to leak before the baby comes, but it's ok if you do. The first couple days you will only produce colostrum. Your milk might take a few days. The hospital should send you home with some formula, but be prepared to buy at least a can. It can take time to produce enough. I had to supplement with formula the first month.
Most people only start to produce after the baby is born n yes the hospital does give formula
Hospital will give you formula but you dont nees to leak before breast feeding when baby latches on it will stimulate the milk. Try massaging your breast to stimulate it
