Maybe a silly question.....

Soo...I was thinking today about all the things I won't be able to do anymore. Like eating fish!??! I tried to look stuff up on the internet but I was just wondering what Meds/foods/products/etc a woman can do while she is pregnant?!

I am just just brand new preggo...so at what point in pregnancy can you do certain things? Maybe this is a stupid post but i'm so curious!!

I go to the doctor on Tuesday so i'm going to ask tons of questions. But this was eye opening. Im kinda bummed cause I have been tanning up until I just found out, I hope that won't be a problem, im obviously not going anymore now. I didnt know about the deli meats either.
Thanks for the help!

Oh yeah....I had forgotten to metion the cat litter!  And if you garden, wear gloves b/c there can be cat feces in the dirt outside....and wash your hands really well after.....

1). You can eat 6 ounces of fish per WEEK but avoid shellfish and albacore tuna/kingmackeral, etc. Basically regular canned tuna is fine.

2). Don't take any meds without your doc's approval. If you catch a cold, just call and ask them what you can take! Usually they give you a pamplet with approved medicines on it.

3). Don't eat raw fruits and veggies without washing them really good as you can get listeriosis (bacteria that is found in dirt). Also, avoid deli meats and soft cheeses as you can also contract listeriosis from them.

4). Stay hydrated with WATER---stop/limit the amount of pop, coffee, juices, etc.

The lists are endless... just don't freak. Live life, drink water, get good sleep, etc.

There are alot of good websites regarding what you can and can't eat during pregnancy......Just do a seach in google....I just looked it up last night...to name a few - no deli meats unless they are cooked first (I like to throw turkey in a frying pan and make wraps...yum), most fish is ok in small quantities...if you do tuna, light is better than albacore b/c there's less mercury in the light.....shark, swordfish, mackarel are NOT ok...too much mercury, no soft cheeses (such as feta...which I LOVE), wash all veggies REALLY well.....no OTC meds except Tylenol prodcuts, Benadryl, Unisom (unless your Dr. OK's others), no exercise that will increase your heart rate to more than 140 bpm, no hot baths/hot tubs for a long period of time, no tanning booths, no caffeine (some say that small amounts is alright but there was a new study in the past few months that says any amount can cause a M/C)...Umm....that's all I can think of off hand.....
The way I see it is that if I make an OOPS by accident and find out after the fact that it's not OK.....our mother and Grandmothers ate whatever they wanted and we all came out OK!
Hope that helped some!

well lmp was march 17th.....and I was having sore nipples and cramps for a about a week, but I thought it was all in my head. I woke up today, and decided to take a ClearBlue pregnancy test...I was like "This is such a waste of money" But it came back positive and then a blood test confirmed it the doc said we probably concieved on march 31 and i havent even missed my period yet, Im supposed to get it monday but ...not anymore!

. I think I'm like 3 wks. so you are probably about 4-5 wks!

I don't eat fish but my doctor told me once a week is okay! I was also told you can do almost everything you did before when you are pregnant just be more careful. When you have your first OB appt they will go over everything with you!
