Possible pregnancy?

Hello. I am 24 years old and I have always had very regular periods. If late, usually by 1-2 days. I am currently 8 days late  with no pms symptoms. I had unprotected sex the day after my period was due. I know that it is very unlikely/common for me to become pregnant that close to my period but it has happened to me before. I took a hpt yesterday evening (7 days late) and got a negative result. I am not experiencing any pregnancy/pms symptoms. Usually before my period I have cramps, breast tenderness, irritability, etc. Should I wait and take another test? If so, how long should I wait?

You should take another one in a few days but don't do it in the evening. That could be why you showed a negative. When you test, you always want to test with first morning urine to insure the most accurate results. This allows for the highest concentration of hCG to be present in the urine. Doing it at night means your urine is likely to be too diluted for an accurate answer.
