Induction stories!

Hey mommies! So I've pretty much just given up the fact Harrison is going to make an early appearance. :( I'll be induced next Monday and was wondering if anyone can share their induction story with me good and bad! I want to hear it all to prepare myself. Also, can you add if you were dilated or effaced at all?

Thanks ladies!!! :)

I had a conversation about this today .

My best friend was induced on her son (1st bby) and had no epidural.  She used gas and air it was 10hrs start to delivering him.
And she said it was absolutely fine. She was thinned out but not dilated at all.

Her second baby came by herself and she had epidural ... start to finish was four hours . But pushing was much longer and difficult she said she'd prefer first one

They were trying to induce me 7 weeks before my body was ready! Baby needed to come out didn't want too. And they had to take the meds slow because of her size (she was 3 lbs 1oz ) she was fighting the contractions (tiny buy full of attitude! )

I was induced with my son at 39 weeks cause his fluid was low. They started my pitocin around 4 and i had him at 4:30 in the morning the next day. They tried so many different things to get me to dilate. They stuck a cather in my cervix and filled it with water until i was about 4 cm. I was only 1 1/2 cm and 30% effaced when i went in so i had a long way to go and they wanted him out. I had one shot of demoral in the beginning because them putting the cather hurt like hell.

I was induced with my first son and I'm also getting induced with this baby at 37 weeks. Although since I've never gone into labor naturally I can't compare the two but I didn't think induction was as bad as people say. I was dialated to 3 the night before and having contractions a lot! When I got to the hospital they started pitocin and it only took about 8 hours until I got an epidural, I needed to sleep and the pain was worse. I was only on pitocin for a couple hours before they stopped it because my body started to want me to have him without me needing more. The epidural for me was a lie saver, although I held out for as long as I could. I think I was 6 or 7 cm dialated when I got it. Total I was in labor about 13 hours!

Do you take evening primrose oil princesslo007? I just ask because it REALLY helped me with dialating and thinning. The more you can get yourself to dialate and stuff the better off you'll be. It's worth a shot to try.. Double check with your doctor, but mine told me it won't hurt anything.

Bree_itsaboy that is so scary but glad he's doing better!

Shib181 I do worry that is what is going to happen to me! I was dilated to a 2 on Tuesday and I'm hoping at my appt on Wednesday I am farther along so that the induction will be a bit easier!

I was induced at 33 weeks due to complications. They started at 9 or 10 in the morning. I started contractions they were increasing my medication every 30 minutes ... Baby started dropping her heart rate with the contractions so they slowed down I was in labor until about 530 at which point she had another serious dip in heart rate. Heart rate came back up and they said we could try until she did it again or give me a c-section (they said they were  90% sure I would need the c-section) I told them just to get her out safe. Baby was delivered at 558.

I was 1 cm dilated when they induced me and 1 cm dilated when they gave me the c-section..

All in all the contractions were very mild but I didn't get to full blown labor (I was complaining I had heart burn because they wouldn't let me eat and not about the contractions ) I had heard with induction they come hard and fast but mine came slow and we're mild and we're more in the back than front

He's okay.. They figured out whats causing the white blood cell count to be so high. They finally got him moved out of ICU and into a normal room Saturday evening. When I talked to him today he said he doesn't know the name of whatever infection he's got. I guess the doctor was sick and didn't want to get too close to him.. but because of this specific infection he has to be on an antibiotic via IV 24 hours a day for the next 6 weeks. Tomorrow they are getting a surgeon to come in and do some procedure on his ankle because I guess the infection has gone there. Today they were checking his kidneys to make sure everything is fine there. They've been doing EKG's of his heart (I don't know why specifically), and tomorrow they are doing some other test on his heart as well as sending a camera or tube or something down his throat and into his heart as well.

It's kind of scary hearing how serious things actually are for him. He's nervous because of the fact that he has to have an IV 24 hours a day for 6 weeks. That means he can't go back to work when he gets out of the hospital as he was hoping he could. From the sounds of it there's a chance he may be released tomorrow, but I'm betting it won't be until at least Wednesday. They are going to teach him to flush his IV, change it, everything on his own before they send him home with everything he needs.

I was induced with my daughter just over 5 years ago. They started the pitocin at 8 am, I was 3 cm. Around lunch time the broke my water and I was given zofran and an epidural. At four I felt "different" so I asked to be checked. At 5:05 my daughter was born! I was very nervous because everyone told me it would be horrible, but I ended up surprised!

Knowing my luck I won't go into labor tonight.. I know she can't induce me at the hospital I want any day this week except tomorrow.. So unless she can get me in the day of, an induction this week isn't likely. So it'll either be this weekend or next week sometime if I don't go on my own. Watch it be Monday for me too. Lol.

If my brother isn't getting released from the hospital by tomorrow I may just give in and let her induce me there. I don't WANT that hospital, but it'll be easier for my parents to visit with us both being in the same hospital. We'll see.

Bree_itsaboy it def might! I couldn't find any either so I hadn't even tried it.

Pauly22 I was hoping that I could relax knowing that I had the date and my body would finally go into labor. But i just haven't had that kick yet.

No I don't have a date set yet, I haven't heard from my doctor yet so I'm going to call in the morning. Assuming I don't go into labor tonight. I'm drinking some red raspberry tea that's all natural and all kinds of crap (I would have to read the box to tell you why I got it lol) but I couldn't find any red raspberry leaf tea, so I got something that was as close to that as I could. Hopefully this will help the little bit more I need!

O wow. I'm really hoping I don't have to have the epidural. I have a high pain tolerance. But idk.

I got induced with my daughter 3 weeks ago, I went into hospital at 5pm, they inserted the gel at 10pm (they were busy so I had to wait ages) then at 7.30am the next morning they broke my waters, I wasn't dialated but I was effaced.. Then at 3.38pm my baby girl made her grand enterence.. I had the epidural which I thought was amazing, contractions were so intense and painful so I was happy once I had the Epi, it didnt effect my labor time or pushing, I pushed really hard and within 45 mins she was here.. I had a good experience,
Hope yours goes well! :) xx

Thank you ladies for your stories. They're giving me hope that it won't be that bad. My mom is a nurse and just keeps saying how terrible its going to be. I keep saying that it can't be that bad since I'm already at a 2 and 50% effaced (as of last Tuesday) but Idk. I guess I'm just scared. I've been in preterm labor for 4 weeks and the doctor expected me to go early.

I only dilate to 3.5 cms after my water broke with my first . I got induced at 40+4 and had my son 40+6 by csection cause I didn't dilate anymore . If you get the epidural , don't get it till least 5 or 6 cms if you can . Cause if you get it to early , it can slow your labor down . But also when I got my csection done , my sons cord was wrapped around his neck twice and they didn't know it . Also breath threw your contractions as much as possible ! It's easier said then done but try the best you can . Now 2 of my friends just got induced today and one of them already had her daughter bout 6 hrs ago ! The other girl is just bout to have hers (: and their having/had theirs natural . I think you'll do fine (: I wasn't induced with my 2nd baby cause it was a repeat csection . Everyone is different when it comes to being induced tho .

I was induced with my daughter. It wasnt that bad I was in labor for 10 hours. I wanted to have her natural but in the end it was nice to know when she was going to arrive because I could make arrangements with family members and I was 100% prepared. Good luck !!
