To correct we do not all have MRSA in our bodies. Yes we all have a small amount of staph but MRSA is a dangerous Methicillin resistant stran that nobody just has unless they are a carrier which cultures in your nose if your a carrier. If you contract mrsa it will look like a small insect bite with a white head and will be swollen underneath the skin and it will be red around it and tender. If it gets left untreated then it will get deeper and more swollen and you risk it getting in your blood stream which can be fatal. Mrsa is treatable during pregnancy and if you have symptoms go in and they can lance it open and swab it, they will put you on antibiotics and probably send you home with papers on cellulitious and wait for the culture to come back (which takes 3 days). They will probably prescribe you bactrim, and in serious cases they will have to give you iv antibiotics (vancomycin) for a couple of days.

Yes we do live together and I've been trying to stay away from him but it's so hard he's 7 and I don't want him to feel bad that I'm not going near him and hurt his feelings.. what my question is if I contract mrsa will I no it ? Can there be no symptoms at all or will there be an infection of some sort like a boil or something?

We actually all have mrsa in our body. But it becomes dangerous if it gets into open cut

I am 24 weeks and I have the strand of staph, mrsa, that stays in your body. I have been hospitalized twice, previous to my pregnancy, with it. It isn't something that you will just catch by being around him, but you need to be extra extra careful. If you do go around him, make sure to wash your hands constantly, not to touch or put anything near your mouth or eyes that he could have came in contact with as an added precaution. As well as that, make sure not to touch the sore or open wound. You have to be super careful to make sure your child's health isn't being jeopardized. Like I said,  I do have the strand in my body, but it generally doesn't flair up unless I use a tanning bed. So naturally, I stay away from the tanning bed. I learned my lesson.

If he is a carrier I would stay away but you can only get mrsa from touching the sore and putting it in your mouth. My daughter got mrsa when she was 9 months old because of my old roommate had it and left her bandaid on the floor and my daughter put it in her mouth.

Just pray that you don't contract it from him. Are you guys living in the same house?
