Is it okay to walk your dog while pregnant?

I'm 15 weeks pregnant & my husky has been dying to go for walks ..   Iv heard that by the dog pulling you can strain your tummy muscles & baby could get the cord wrapped around it?
Is this true ? ...

I walked my husky since I found out at 6 weeks. Id say she's about 30 pounds. But we kinds had her trained to go at my pace but sometimes she would pull. I'm 35 weeks now and my baby just fine :)

Okay thanks I'll definitely have to try that out :) & I just bought her a harness ... She's sketchy with it so she's got to get use to it.

I'm 34w1d and have an Australian Cattle dog mixed with German Sheppard and I walk her multiple times a day. Now that I'm further along, some walks will cause me to get small contractions, but other than that I've had no problems.

I have a german shepherd who pulls when she sees a squirrel or other dog...I got this thing called a lead. It goes on her head and muzzle area, it looks like a muzzle but it isn't she's able to eat/drink/pant with it on. Think of it as those things they put on horses, I'm not sure what they're called. But she never pulls with the lead on and heels right next to me even when there's a distraction. You can find them at most pet stores.

I know it's illegal here in some places to own a rotty..pitty or doberman but never heard of the collars. I guess you do learn something new everyday.

Some trainers are for the prong an or choke collars and others aren't. When I worked in an animal hospital we told people not to use them and when I worked as a trainer we didn't even suggested them. It's a touchy subject because some people are for them.

Prong collars and choke collars can cause serious injury and are illegal in some states and countries.

The prong collar can cause damage to the spine from pulling also damage to the skin and nerves. Some studies show it causes emotional damage to the dog. There is a lot more but if you research you'll be article after article

The choke collar can crusher their larynx cause serious damage to their trachea and also spine. It also can cause emotional damage because it inflicts pain so if their doing something that isn't wrong and they pull they will think they are doing something wrong .

When I was a dog trainer we wouldn't even allow owners to being dogs in that had choke collars or prong collars. The best thing you can do is get a harness and take time to teach your dog. A harness gives you more control.

Why are choke chains dangerous?  I know the one with my the spikes is insane..I would never use that but just the chain I thought was fine. . My parents use one for their rotty Cuz she's a beast and she even pulls my dad around

Don't use a choke collar! I have been working with dogs for 5 years and choke collars are dangerous and should never be used!!! If you worried about pulling try a harness or a shorter leash so he has less to pull

We had a husky puppy when I was pregnant with my daughter and he was nuts and so hyper. I took him on walks by myself when my husband would be late at work. We had a harness for him and things went fine.

the pulling is not going to wrap baby's umbilical cord around its neck, no worries! my big concern with the dog pulling you would be a sprained ankle or something similar because of the relaxin in your joints, so just walk on a smooth surface as much aspossible to reduce that risk

Dogs still need to be walked one way or another if you can't do it yourself you may need to hire a dog walker or try a head collar.
