Nope, now pregnant with baby number 5 and I have never taken a birthing class. I did YouTube a few things when I was having trouble nursing. I watched demos of how to latch a baby better so that it didn't hurt to nurse! I have done natural child birth for 2 of my 4 births, and plan natural this time. Just read up on things you need to know, such as ways to cope with labor! Good luck and congratulations!
I am taking them. Two and half hours once a week for 5 weeks. I learn 1 or 2 things a week. I'm going to week 4 tonight. I knew nothing about child birth before hand so maybe this is common knowledge but here goes what I found useful:
- anterior and posterior baby position
- 511 rule to go to hospital after 37 weeks
- 4 contractions in 1 hour go to hospital before 37 weeks
- 'he he he ho' breathing
Blowing out the candle breathing
- baby growth spurts are #1 reason women stop breastfeeding. They think their milk supply ran out during these times.
Practice different positions for contractions. I know I want an epidural so I am focusing on those positions.
Practice boyfriend massages.
That's ur 3 week summary
I didn't take them, and my labor went just fine. According to everyoneiI tell I had an 'easy' labor anyway. I honestly just used the information Igot from watching television. I know that sounds silly!. Just take deal breaths and stay calm.
I'm not taking them either and this is mine and my husbands first but I thought about it if I had a way to get there but they have already come and gone so I haven't worried about it much. I think they have videos on YouTube but I'm not sure.
36+6 and I haven't taken any classes. I kinda Google and YouTube everything.
I took them with my first and enjoyed them from an anatomy and physiology standpoint, but all of the techniques got thrown out once I was in labor. Personally, I had to find what worked best for me once I was in active labor. Going has it's benefits, but it isn't necessary.
I never took them with mh first and not with this one either.
My boyfriend is 10 hours away at school so he wouldn't be able to make it to the classes anyways so I'd be by myself if I were to go. Thank you for the comment though its definitely reassuring.
Hi there. I took the birthing classes and thought it was really a good thing to do. It was one (long) day with my husband and I both attending. Here's what I like. First, definitely good for my partner as he was a bit of a deer in headlights about what was to come. It got HIM ready. LOL Second, they had tips that helped. The breathing exercises helped and also they taught my husband how to massage to relieve pressure. I felt prepared knowing exactly what to expect (okay, you never really know when you get in there). It was a nice thing to do.
With that said, you don't have to do it though. Labor and delivery nurses are amazing. They guide you through everything and our bodies do the rest.
Ladies who don't take it will be just fine. :>) good luck to you
I'm in the same position. I'm 35 and 3 days and I can't afford to miss work. I'm not taking them either..
