It's my day.

I get induced today at 8:30pm. Any other mothers that got induced have any tips/advice for me. I'm a FTM. My cervix isn't cooperating so they start me on some medicine to see if my cervix responds. Then if it does, I start pitocin monday morning and hopefully have a baby on Monday. If my cervix doesn't respond to the initial medicine I get a c-section. Sound familiar to any moms?

i was induced with my first child, when you get induced the pain is a lot worse than when u aren't induced... they began giving me the medicine to get induced at about 4 pm and didn't give birth till about 8: 30 AM the next day..... I took the epidural because I couldn't stand the pain, it was very easy and you can hardly feel it, I advice you to take it, after all your body needs rest, so when I took the epidural I didn't feel the contractions anymore. my mom was by my side since my husband was in another state for work, and he didn't make it to the hospital on time. so because I took the epidural I stayed up for a while and played cards with my mom, watched TV, talked to my friends, and most importantly slept through out the whole night.....
With my younger son I didn't take the epidural because I was in another country and I was afraid to take it in that country, so I began contractions at about 8: 00 PM, went to the hospital at 12:00 AM and didn't give birth till about 11:00 AM, so that was 11 hours of pain and no sleep, so when I gave birth to my son I wasn't even able to carry him because I was so weak from the contractions and from staying up all night....
SORRY  I WROTE ALOT BUT I WANTED TO HELP

I was induced on the 27th, was on pitocin for 24 hours without any progress further than nearly a five, had to get two epidurals and ended up in an emergency c-section, to find out my sons cord was in a true knot and he nearly died, so my experiance with induction was very bad.

The contractions get really bad quicker than natural labor, dont hesitate with the epidural, i waited 24 hrs to get it and only did because my blood pressure was increasing drastically and nothing was helping. Dont wait too long, i found out the hard way the more you wait, the less it works.

Good luck and i pray yours goes great compared to mine.

Don't be afraid of the epidural. My dr did a walking one, that way you can still feel some and when to push and stuff, I got mine 18 hours in. Had to get it to relax my body. It went from major pain to what felt like instant relief. When your induced labour is like 1000 times harder though. I went from not feeling any of my contractions that were 6 mins apart and steady to about 1 min or less. Also showers are amazing!! Before I got my epi thats the only way I was hanging on. I had 10 or more showers in those 28 hours lol just try and relax and in the meantime get lots of sleep!! You'll need it! Wish I would of had a heads up for my induction so I could have slept too.oh and eat lots before you go to the hospital. Once your in labour you won't want to eat. And if there is a chance of csec you won't be aloud to either.
