Hey everyone, I know that I have not been on here in a while, but here is a little update on how I'm doing. I have a 31 day cycle, my last period was on 11/20/2009, which means that I ovulated on 12/7th. I had sex on the 15th, thinking that it would be safe to do so, and found out today that I am pregnant. What happen?

Your last period doesn't tell you when you will ovulate. Ovulation occurs based on hormonal changes in your body. Stress and other things can cause those hormonal changes to occur later, thus making you ovulate later. Sounds like you ovulated late.

Congrats on the baby, by the way! When are you due?! Are you excited?!

Yeah it is possible to ovulate late sometimes. Hopefully you dint do anything bad like drinking or smoking as you were not planning.
Congrats anyway

Is the 15th the only time you had sex, or you had sex before the 7th. Given a very good environment, semen can survive for up to 4 days, some even say 7 days! Tracking your ovulation is really not a very good method to prevent pregnancy, it actually says so on ovulation calendars. But anyways, congratulations!

I agree with the previous poster.  If you were not using any methods to track ovulation, then you can't really pinpoint the day it happened without using predictor kits or changes in your temperature. Your luteal phase could have been shorter this month instead of the average 14 day-period.  Congratulations.

going by your LMP doesnt mean that you will ovulate on a certain day. More than likely you ovulated late. It can happen to anyone even if your like clockwork. Congrats!
