I am the same way, the way the first and last names fit together and they way they would sound with the sibling's name play a big part in naming to me, haha!
I didn't see Caroline before... I LOVE that name. It's so classic and not terribly common.
Wow...thanks for the input! (What a list, Joy!) I love Emma, but it's already getting popular, too...and Lydia was my second choice, but a friend had a baby last month and named her that.
Rozy: I keep feeling tempted to just name her Lily anyway, because I feel so sad NOT to use it! LOL BUT, I'm like you, I don't want her to be one of 4 Lily's in a classroom. My mom and sister are teachers and they HATE having a bunch of the same named kids in their classes. It gets confusing. Best wishes with ttc! I hope it happens very soon for you!
Another note: I don't think I can have a name that ends with an "a", as my last name starts with "A" and they just don't seem to go well together. Dh didn't like Roseanna at all. He says we'll just keep our eyes and ears open for a while and see what comes up. She isn't due until Feb, but I don't want to wait too long because babies seem more "real" and like a part of the family when they already have a name. You know?
Thanks again for the responses! :-)
Lily has been my number ultimate favorite girl's name since I was like 16. My mom started asking me, "When do I get a Lily?" as soon as I got married because I've always had ZERO other names in mind... that was IT. But when I first fell in love with it, it was pretty uncommon... now it's like, every other baby girl I see is named Lily!
Now I'm nixing it from the list or at least moving it way down, very sadly, because my last name is extremely common and literally if I google or Facebook "Lily ______" there are hundereds of them. I don't want my kid to have a WEIRD name, but I also don't want her to be one of 3 kids in her class with the same name. So I know what you're going through.
Anyway, my new list-toppers that are somewhat less common:
Lola
Willa
Luca
Violet
Annabel
I LOVE Claire and I also like Rose-names (a little biased here) but I prefer Rosalie to Roseanna. The MIL thing gets tricky though.
Unfortunately my DH doesn't like any of those except Claire and Luca, but he wants to keep Lily. We'll see how I feel if I ever manage to get PG. Haha!
Ava/Eva
Emily/Emma
Gwen
Iris
Joy
Jocelyn
Kaelynn
Julie
Karen
Amanda
Jamie
Keira
Lani/Laney/Lana
Leah
Laurel/Laurie
Lila (instead of Lily)
Lisa
Livia
Lola
Lori
Lucy
Lora
Lynn
Lydia
I broke out my baby name book and skimmed through it! Here's ones that popped out at me and I was more careful looking at "L" names. Hope this helps!
