Epidural

If any of you ladies wanted to know about the epidural, it is so worth it. You won't feel any pain at all.

And I agree with the back problems.  I was lucky and have no pain from mine... my dad had one 2 tears ago and still has pain where they put it.. and when he baths the area they put it in goes red and you can see where it was

I had an epidural because they were giving me a c-section. They induced me and I had nothing for pain until the epidural (baby was very early but needed to come out and was not taking the contractions well) it worked great... but I personally didn't like it. My little one was born at 6 and rushed to the nicu and it was 1130 before I had enough feeling that the nurses would let me get up (and I lied and said I felt my toes and didn't yet but I could feel most of my feet). Thankful her dad was with her in the nicu and kept me updated while my momma waited with me in recovery. But it killed me to know my baby was 5 hours old before I got to see her! Longest wait of my life!

Most back problems have little to nothing to do with the epidural. Most of it is from your back being contorted during pregnancy. That being said I am going to make an attempt without it, just because I don't handle pain meds very well (even motrin makes me sick)

I wanted to go med free, but after 8 hours with little progression, I was physically not going to make it and be able to push 6+ hours later. I ended up getting an epidural and it was absolutely wonderful! It was 1min of pain then all that pain was gone. I didn't have any complications or side affects.

my epidural didn't work at all, a few hrs after getting it, I asked the nurse when it was supposed to kick in. they pumped me full of that CRAP for hours and hours and I still felt every single contraction, didn't take the edge off anything, but couldn't walk because my LEGS were numb.
ended up having emergency c section due to not dilating and had to be put to sleep because I could still feel everything and when my daughter was born, she had to be resuscitated because she had so much crap in her system :(

If you can get through it without - DO IT. I was pissed because I was EXPECTING pain relief and it didn't DO anything of the sort. After going through 8hrs of drug free labor (although it was to deliver my 17wk olf baby boy), as much as it IS painful, I wanted to experience everytbit of it. knowing I did it, alone, for my angel son
