Medicaid.

For you who have Medicaid, do you use this time to take advantage of other Dr's visits like the dentist, etc.. I only ask because ppl tell me take advantage of it right now that you have insurance. Right now i have a wisdom tooth that needs to be pulled out. I get scared because from time to time it gets infected and Im 21 weeks. Im worried how its affecting my baby when that happens. Any other Dr's offices you ladies take a visit to?

Medicaid doesn't cover all dental things, because some can endanger the baby(send your body into premature labor and stress), but fillings I know are okay to get but I don't think you can have like wisdom teeth pulled cause they would have to put you on drugs to numb the pain and most are bad for the baby but it wouldn't hurt to call your case worker and ask.

When I asked if a root canal can be done on me everyone has said no ! & look at me like that was a dumb question to ask. I guess its not common here idk. Going to the dentist next week

Absolutely! If you don't get it taken care of the infection can move to your blood stream and you could die, seriously. My friend just kept putting it off and she got sick and went into shock, she bounced back but your immune system is not as good when your prego so you have an even higher risk!

I need a root canal too though but Medicaid does not cover them. Just fillings, cleanings, and non surgical extractions

It generally covers extractions and certain fillings. I had to have a wisdom tooth pulled at 23 weeks and I am on medicaid. Your dentist might ask for a letter from your doctor saying it is ok for them to preform the procedure and what medications and anesthetics they can use.

You may need antibiotics before they pull the tooth, so just make sure they know you're pregnant. The Wic office here in Duval county, Jacksonville Florida, has a special dental place for when you're pregnant.

I would go to the dentist because some mouth problems lead to premature birth
