It's a bacteria that's in your va-jayjay and/or rectum. It can be found in your urine or in a swab they do. About 25% of women have this bacteria and don't know they have it because there are no symptoms. It's just a bacteria that can be passed to the child during birth, If not treated the baby can become very sick. It's treatable with antibiotics during labor. And you may have it with one pregnancy but not with the other. They are very well educated with this and it's treatable.
Im positive for it I found out 7weeks
What is strep b? Im not that far along
Thanks girls! I should have asked more questions but I didn't really know what to ask lol I have my next appt in a week and I will definitely be asking him everything!
I have it too. I freaked out at first but the doctor assured me that it would be fine. Instead of staying at home until your contractions get closer together you have to go straight to the hospital and start your antibiotics. You have to have 4 hours worth before baby is born, if not possible then the baby will be tested and treated.
I did the same thing and then realized that its probably no big deal. As long as they know and give us the antibiotics we'll both be fine. I did the something as you and I'm still scared about it but I know it's going to be okay :)
Thanks lauraashley...I'm sure everything will work out and I'm just getting worked up over something I shouldn't :)
And you can have it with once pregnancy but not with another
Hun I have it and I felt the same way. But at least they know and are going to treat us, so nothing will happen. If they DIDN'T know then it could be a real issue. Don't try and stress over it to much, everything will be okay. If you need to talk, I'm here and you can message me at ANYTIMEl. Keep your head up - Hugs :)
Thanks bubnumber1!
@mamaellis my midwife didn't tell me with my first until I asked her and she said it was negative. So maybe it came back negative for you?
I had the test done but never got my results back.
My ob told me LOTS of women have it, it's just something that occurs sometimes, and varies between pregnancies even, like in your case, bub will be fine :) I get my test done in a couple weeks and I'm not stressed, if I have it, I have it lol my ob is very reassuring maybe that's why I'm so relaxed about it? Xx
