My beautiful baby (GIRL) is here!!!

Hazel Winifred arrived promptly on her due date (in time for breakfast) on Sunday.
She is the most exquisite thing i have ever seen and i am deeply deeply in love. My labour was beautiful and worth every bit of pain just to hold her.

Labour:
I woke up at 5am with what felt like strong crampy period like pains. I got up made myself some last minute raspberry leaf tea and pottered around for an hour while the contractions got extremely regular (6 mins) and increasingly painful. At 6 am i woke up Simon and my Mum and we began to properly counting the contractions. By
Pushing was AMAZING especially after all that time trying to stop it. It was the most wonderful empowering feeling after being unable to actively participate before then. I made my way to the bed hopped upon  my own and pushed like i never had before. I remember turning to my mum and saying "pushing feels like an orgasm" lol. Scarred for life? After a a few consecutive contraction/pushes i begn to crown. An elated feeling came over me as i realised i would be meeting my baby soon. When her head came they let me feel her. I started histerically laughing/smiling and saying "my baby thats, my baby, thats our baby, its our baby" ect. When she was born (after a few more lots of pushes and me smiling like crazy) she cried immediately and i squealed with delight. Simon helped deliver her (after claiming he would have nothing to do with that, wouldnt even cut the cord :) and lifted her over to my chest and cut the cord and announced her "its a girl" .

They wrapped me and Hazel up together and waited for the after birth and to check for any tears. I didn't think i had any (maybe the endorphins of the labour) but i had a second degree perineal tear and a labial tear. They left Hazel on my chest while they stitched me up (very poor use of local anaesthetic) then she fed for atleast 45 mins. They weighed (9lbs3oz!!!) and measured her (52 cm long 36.5 cm circumference)  then gave Simon and my Mum a hug.

I left the hospital today and i will be taking her home (to Western Australia) on Saturday night on a four hour flight.

Her birth was the best thing i have ever experienced i wouldn't change a thing. She is the most beautiful creature congratulations to everybody who had there babies while i was away, congrats to all of those who are till pregnant and i hope everybody else gets there BFPs soon! Nobody should miss out on experiences like this.

This is a link to a you tube video of her at one and a half days old with the hiccups http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR6iWLlwgM4. I will upload photos ASAP.

Thankyou all!

Avanaar-Yeah my labour was drug and epidural free. I just didnt want to risk losing the feelings i was having emotionally as well a physically. During the contractions i just made everybody be ridiculously quiet then i breathed through them and when they got worse i found slow long low gutteral sounds to really help. The length of my labour definitely had to help though, i still had so much energy right up to pushing.

Yeah heaps of it got cut out. I dont know how i didnt notice that! Basically my waters broke around 630 and i got to the hospital around 7 am. At about 740 they checked and i was 8cm dilated. At 8 i got the urge to push, i assumed it was premature but told the midwife anyway. She checked me and said i was still 8 (not sure if that was true looking back) and that i had to supress the feeling. In like 15 mins the urge was insanely strong and all consuming. I knew something had changed and i insisted that she checked again. She refused saying she was leaving and would check in an hour. My mum and simon asked her to please check just in case (considering how fast the labour was going nothing was impossible) she refused again until  i stood up and blood gushed out. She was like "oh well thats a second show hop into a position you feel comfortable in its time to push". I would have screamed "i told you so" if i hadnt been so eager to start pushing.

So yeah just insert that into the storyline :) The whole labour (from my very first contraction) was under 4 hours. Hazel Winifred Bellew joined the world at 8:50 am Sunday the 31st of August.
