At my last birth i decided on a home birth and my 5.5year old wanted to be there for it so i showed him some pictures that didn't show all the bits and told him that baby will come out from between my legs and that it will hurt and i will make funny noises like pushing out a big poo. And told him what he can do. He rubbed my shoulder and told me that when baby is out it wont hurt anymore and to keep breathing. My 1.5year old son was laying in his bed mimicing my noises pretty funny moment. Im. Pregnant again and my now Mr.7 has made it clear that he will not be there, he just wants to come after, i really dont blame him
i just tell my daughter that i went to the doctor and told him i wanted to have a baby. the doctor gave me a seed and i swallowed it like a pill. the seed grew in my belly and made a baby. then i had to go back to the doctor to have the baby. thats all she knows and its cute..becasue when she sees a pregnant lady, she will say...OH MY! WE HAVE TO GO TO THE DOCTOR AND GET THAT BABY OUT! (she is only 2, and she has an 8 month old little sister...and im pregnant again with out 3rd)
if you just say it in a normal voice and like your asking them how their day was or what they want on their sandwhiches and keep it simple you should be fine :)
Okay thanks I get a little freaked out when they ask stuff like that. Because I don't want to scare them. Or for them to cry.
i've always told them the truth, and just tell them that when its time for the baby to come out, mummy has to go to the hospital, and I have to push the baby out, and they will usually ask where and I just say that I push and it comes out of my vagina, sometimes they'd ask if it hurt and I would say a little abit but thats ok because we get to see our baby, and if they saee you in abit of pain with the contractions you just tell them thats your tummy/babt getting ready to come out. My four year old girl and my 3yr old boy both know where they come out from and its not a big deal, just say it matter of factly and answer them truthfully, they will probably come back with more questions and just deal with those honestly as well :)
