Nail Polish

This is my first pregnancy and I've been told that I can't do my nails while being pregnant because it may harm the baby. Is it true?

You have to be exposed to extreme amounts of those chemicals for them to effect your child. You would only have to worry if you work in a nail salon full time.
For instance, my toes are constantly painted. I never go with out. All four of my children have tested in genius range, to include two who are considered to have IQs higher than 99.9% of the population of the world.

If you are in a well ventilated area and you aren't exposed to the chemicals too much then your kid should be

Actually Columbia University just came out with a study that shows that exposure to chemicals found in nail polish and other household products during the third trimester leads to lower IQ scores in children. The chemicals are called phthalates and often aren't listed in the ingredients list. It lowers your child's IQ score by 6 to 7 seven points compared to children who weren't exposed to the chemicals.

Of course it isn't true. You can paint your nails, even dye your hair to your hearts content as long as you are in a well ventilated area. Just leave a window open.
